INTRODUCING MADE BY MITCHELL: CRUELTY FREE, COLOR RICH COSMETICS
Just in time for summer, we are thrilled to announce the addition of Made by Mitchell products to our brand lineup at Camera Ready Cosmetics! This eye-catching line embodies the phrase “pop of color” by offering a collection of neon’s, shimmers, and everything bold. Think: Caribbean blue, pink flamingo and cha-cha chartreuse! The brand itself describes the line as “…Cosmetic Products for the makeup lovers, for the makeup addicts and for the self-expressionists” and we couldn’t agree more!
Why We Love Made by Mitchell
Launched in 2020, this three-year-old stand-out brand offers pigment dense products that are cruelty-free, budget friendly and packed with potential to create show-stopping looks. Created by Mitchell Halliday, a young British makeup artist whose love of color and makeup drew him into the world of beauty, Made by Mitchell is sure to deliver your next favorite juicy lip-gloss, statement eyeliner and mood-enhancing summer blush.
With over 1 million followers on Instagram, Halliday embraces color, self-expression, and fashion in a way that has become recognizable and signature both of him and of his brand. He was mentored by Sir John while appearing on American Beauty Star and has had several collaborations including those with Beauty Bay and Tatti Lashes. Using his experience and passion for authentic self-expression, he successfully created a brand that is focused on attention-grabbing colors that make the brand's product portfolio a niche and memorable line within a saturated market.
Made by Mitchell Products We’re Excited About:
Perhaps the most well-known product is the Blursh - a liquid to powder cream product that is available in blush, bronzer and highlighter shades. This product layers perfectly either underneath or on top of other products and provides a blurring, filter-like finish – hints the name “Blursh.” Because of the dense pigmentation, you can use this product either for a soft wash or apply heavy-handed for statement looks. Also, we love that the Blursh products are suitable for all skin types.
Other fan favorites include products such as: the Graph-ink Liquid Liner and the All Smudge No Budge Rainbow Liner (both available in neutral and neon shades), the Beam Lip Gloss and the palettes - which offer a collection of shades for lip, eyes or face.
Another great call-out we like most about the Made by Mitchell line is the versatility of so many of the products. The Blursh Liquid Blusher, for instance, can be used both for the cheeks and lips and can also be applied on the eyes for a soft wash of color to create a cohesive look. This one product will nearly complete your look while giving the appearance that you invested more time and energy than just the couple of minutes that it really took to blend it into the face. The same goes for the paint palettes which again provide versatility and can be used for concealer, corrector, shadow base, face base, and so much more.
We would say that Made by Mitchell is the perfect brand to explore and shop for makeup artists who specialize in special effects makeup as well as artists who enjoy creating event and party style looks. Of course, there are shades and products to fit everyday wear for all makeup lovers as well and because of this diverse range, we highly recommend to all to explore the products for yourself!

Introducing MOB Beauty: PRO Performance, Earth-Friendly Beauty
We are thrilled to announce we have added MOB Beauty to our Camera Ready Family of brands and are proud to offer their professional-grade products that are sustainable, cruelty-free, ingredient-conscious, and vegan formulas that we know you'll love!
In this blog, we'll share more about the MOB Beauty Team, their mission to be sustainable and ethical, and why they're the hottest pro-performance, sustainable brand that you need to try! Let's jump in!
MOB Beauty co-founders Alisha Gallagher and Victor Casale showing off and formulating MOB Beauty products
Behind the Brand
MOB Beauty was created by beauty industry powerhouses including Victor Casale (former managing director and chief chemist of MAC, and chief innovation officer and co-founder of Cover FX), Alisha Gallagher (ex-SVP at Briogeo and Cover FX), Steve Blanchet (former president and owner of CSR Cosmetics Solutions), and Beatrice Seguin (a pharmaceutical scientist).
Together, they wanted to use their decades of industry experience to build beauty for a better future - to define new standards in the industry by questioning everything, to improve everything.
Sustainability & Innovation
MOB Beauty is an industry leader when it comes to sustainability. Their packaging features refillable palettes and components to reduce waste while giving you sturdy, attractive, and easy-to-identify products (a must-have for PROs and their kits), and they're always researching new ways to reduce unnecessary processes and components.
All of their packaging is made of PET and PP resin (the easiest to recycle) with at least 50% post-consumer recycled content (reusing material that already exists in the waste stream), and their goal is to be 100% PCR.
The Formulas
When it comes to performance, you can trust MOB Beauty. They have their own lab and chemists that take a product-first approach. Instead of creating new collections just to have more launches, each new shade and formula is analyzed and tested vigorously. They won't release a product unless it offers the pro-performance with great payoff, no fall out, long-wear, and smooth and easy-to-blend textures that you deserve.
Their goal is to create products that will be staple items in your makeup kit and to create more ingredient-conscious versions of your favorites!
The Need for High-Performing, Ethical Ingredients
In addition to avoiding any known-to-be harmful ingredients, they formulate with ingredients that offer skin-loving and anti-bacterial properties, a major bonus for professional makeup artists that stock MOB Beauty in their kits.
Their mission to be sustainable and earth-friendly applies to their ingredients, too. They sustainably and ethically source everything that goes into their products and leave out ingredients like silicones which don't bio-degrade and end up in our water supply harming biodiversity and our local ecosystems. Their products only contain RSPO-certified Palm Oil (it was sourced from responsible areas), and they only use ethically sourced Mica. They only work with suppliers that provide statements that no children were used to source or produce their ingredients. To top it off, they're Leaping Bunny and PETA Certified Vegan and Cruelty-Free.

Classic Bridal Makeup by James Molloy
Leave it to James Molloy to create the perfect classic bridal look!
He started with skin prep and applied a moisturizer before going in with Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Hydrating Primer (applied with his 0.20 My Flexi Face Brush) before adding a light application of tinted moisturizer to even out the complexion. To add dimension to the face, he applied Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer and blended it out using My Domed Multi Brush 0.13. To set the face, he used a light layer of Kevyn Aucoin Loose Setting Powder using My Soft Powder Brush 0.27.
To give his model a barely there bridal flush, he applied a hint of Kevyn Aucoin Blush and lightly sculpted her face using Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. For the eyes, he opted for a soft pinky nude palette using the Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Eyeshadow Palette in Medium Deep concentrating the deepest shades along the lower lash line and the crease to give soft dimension and added the lightest shimmery shades across the lids. He added Ardell Lashes for a soft romantic gaze and a thin coat of mascara to the lower lashes.
He finished the look with a soft nude lip liner and Buxom Full On Plumping Matte Lipstick in Chill Night and lightly applied a powder highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones.
James' PRO Tip: To apply a highly pigmented blush or highlighter, use the MYKITCO My Blush and Polisher Brush 0.24 to easily and evenly diffuse the pigments onto the skin.
Makeup: Alanna Castro, Hair: Emily Winters, Model: Vianka
Showstopping Bride with Alanna and Emily
Alanna Castro and Emily Winters are a dynamic duo combining their artistry in makeup and hair respectively to serve the Dallas, TX, area and beyond. Their style ranges from editorial to every day, and their goal is to make every client feel like the best version of themselves, no matter what they want to express through their beauty.
Alanna started by prepping the skin with several Sonia Roselli products including Water Elixir and Water Oil to seal in plenty of moisture - the key to any good bridal look. For added hydration and to mattify the t-zone, she used Embryolisse Lait Creme Sensitive and Hydra Mat Emulsion. To keep the under-eye area hydrated throughout the day, she added a thin layer of Saint Jane Beauty Bright Repair Eye Cream.
To give her bride the perfect lit from within look, she used Danessa Myricks Beauty Illuminating Veil in Serenity before creating a multidimensional base using numerous shades of Dose of Colors Meet Your Hue Foundation and Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer.
She set the complexion with By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Palette and baked with RCMA No Color Powder before adding depth and dimension with Scott Barnes Sculpt & Contour palette. For the cheeks, she added a pop of color with Ben Nye Creme Blush Wheel and La Femme Powder Blush before highlighting with Danessa Myricks Beauty Enlight Illuminators in Light and Heaven Sent.
Next, she focused on creating a true bridal glam eye look using Viseart Neutral Mattes palette and added brilliant long-lasting sparkle with Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix in Twinkle and Lit Cosmetics Liquid Metals in Activated Gold. For the liner, Alanna used PRO MUA fav Inglot AMC Gel Liner in 77 and Make Up For Ever Aqua Resist Liner and popped on dramatic lashes from Lashes in a Box.
To complete the look, she created a soft pink pout with Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in Limitless Brown and Universal Earth and filled in the lips with a blend of Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix in Nude 3 and Creme Brulee. She topped the lips with a light layer of Saint Jane Beauty Luxury Lip Oil in Cloud, a soft pink.
Finally, she gave her bride's decolletage a radiant glow with Melanie Mills Hollywood Gleam Face & Body Radiance in Disco Gold and set the entire look with Melanie Mills Hollywood Ultra Lite Long Lasting Sealing Spray.
For the Bridal Hair Style
Emily created Vianka's glam waves using a variety of products that helped keep the style in place for an all-day (and night) event! She prepped her tresses with Living Proof No Frizz Humidity Shield before setting her hair in rollers with R+Co Vicious Strong Hold Flexible Hair Spray.
Once she removed the rollers, she added some va-va-voom and volume with R+Co Balloon Dry Volume Spray. She added a light spritz to the roots and teased before setting the hair with more Vicious hair spray. Once she was happy with the look, she added a light sprtiz of another anti-humidity spray with R+Co Moon Landing Anti-Humidity Spray.
Natural and Minimalist Bride with Danessa Myricks
Danessa Myricks, professional makeup artist, photographer, and entrepreneur, created a bridal look that enhanced her model's natural features and perfected her complexion with beautiful nude shades.
To create her signature radiant complexion, Danessa prepped the model's skin with Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Glow Serum in Main Squeeze. For complexion, she used several shades of Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder to highlight, contour, and even out the complexion. To create even more of a contrast, she used ColorFix Nude in shade 8 as a warmer bronzer/contour and to contour the nose.
To define the eyes, she applied ColorFix Nude shade 7 all over the lid using a MYKITCO brush. She then smudged ColorFix Nude in shade 9 along the lash line, outer V, and across the lower lash line to provide a subtly smokey effect.
For the lips, she used another shade of ColorFix Nude for a long-lasting liner and filled the lips with shade 4 for a natural nude lip. To make the lips look even bigger, she added a small dab of shade 3 to the upper and lower lip and blended well.

Her looks always start with a healthy and glowing complexion paired with seamless blending of long-lasting and waterproof makeup making it ideal for any scenario.
To create her look, Chelsea spent a lot of time focusing on skin prep. She used pro favorite Embryolisse Hydra Cream Light and Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. For the complexion, she used the versatile and kit friendly Make Up For Ever All in One Face Palette and added a pop of color with Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed in Golden Hour.
She framed the eyes with a soft feathery brow with Kevyn Aucoin True Feather Marker Brow Duo. For the eyes, she used Dose of Colors Nine Years Later palette, black liner, and lashes. To complete the look, Chelsea used a soft nude lipstick (Make Up For Ever Artist Velvet Nude in 105 Tender Nude).

Chelsie's Top Picks
I've been highly anticipating the Sonia Roselli launch, and one of the first items I picked out was the Water Elixir Skin Prep! I've been using it for a few weeks now and I'm already SO in love with it! It's so lightweight and soothing, calms inflammation quickly, and absorbs into my skin almost instantly. I love that it doubles as a serum AND moisturizer. It adds some much needed hydration and helps to build up my skin barrier (check out our Sonia Roselli Live, if you haven't already!). My skin feels so soft, plump, and dewy after using it, and I've noticed a considerable improvement in my skin texture. It's the perfect product to use before makeup, as it gives my skin a lovely, glowing base! I can't wait to use it on my clients and models!
I absolutely LOVE the Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner - it's quickly become one of my go-to products! When I'm having an especially dry day (pretty much every day lately), I quickly spritz some of this on to get an instant boost of moisture. I love that it contains hyaluronic acid, my favorite ingredient, to provide continuous hydration, but what really makes this toner stand out is that it also protects and primes your skin with antioxidants and refreshing ingredients (thank you CoQ10 and Chamomile). Plus, it's a super-fine mist so it doesn't interfere with my makeup! Overall, this toner is perfect for keeping your skin hydrated, refreshed and protected throughout the day!
August's Top Picks
I am totally obsessed with Danessa Myricks' Vision Flush! As a no-makeup makeup fanatic, this is the perfect product to add some color onto your face. I'm personally in love with shade Ballet Slippers and use it as blush whenever I can along with a pop on my eyes. It is super soft, creamy, and incredibly pigmented. A few taps covers everything I need.
I also love love love the Dose of Colors Velvet Mousse Lipsticks. They have a range of gorgeous deep colors (my fav is Spicy) that are highly pigmented and a super soft non-drying formula. These are my go to for date night and will last through it all while still being super comfortable on your lips!
Holly's Top Picks
I am slowly transitioning my makeup routine to all cream products and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Blush has become my newest obsession! Every shade is so beautiful and flattering. It's so easy to blend and dries down very nicely - I don't even need to set it with a powder blush. I love wearing them when I do a very natural makeup look to keep my face looking fresh and radiant!
My second pick for the month is one I've been wanting to buy for a while and am so glad I caved! I never felt like I needed to invest in a nice makeup light to do my skincare and makeup until I came across the Glamcor RIKI Skinny LED Vanity Mirror. It truly has changed my morning and night routine! It is so nice to sit down in the morning in front of great lighting to do my skincare/makeup while sipping on my morning coffee! Talk about self care! It is also super easy to travel with considering the size. I am IN LOVE with this light.
Calvin's Top Picks
I know a great lipstick formula when I see one, and the new Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Nudes are amazing. Longwear, highly pigmented, a beautiful and line smoothing soft matte finish, super lightweight on the lips, AND a nude for all skin tones? This revolutionary formula is the answer to lip color. Swipe, Swipe, Go!!!
Since skin prep is an essential step of my job as a makeup artist, I had to name the Rituel de Fille Thorn Milk Hydrating Skin Mist as my second top pick (one of my coworkers selected it last month, but it's just that good that it needs to be name a top pick again)! I have extremely dry skin, so I like to test products on myself to see how they'll perform on clients with similar skin types, and knowing how the product performs all day is also the best way to elevate your artistry. Great makeup artists will know how the products will look all day/night long. This makes my feel hydrated, healthy and relaxed. I use it on clients right before all other skin prep just to give that layer of hydration to the skin so that it's not soaking up all the other products.
Liz's Top Picks
Even though I've curated the best skincare routine (thanks to having the best brands to choose from at work!), there are times my skin doesn't like to behave. It has texture and some spots that are prone to being oily while others want to be bone dry. When Sonia Roselli told me about her Water Oil Skin Prep, I was intrigued, but I have to say that it's really one of a kind. It's lightweight and locks in hydration. My skin is left with less texture and feels balanced. Plus, it makes my life on the go easier and helps me look flawless when I wear makeup. Hands down a must-have for my every day essentials.
Apparently, I am on an oil kick right now, and R+Co's Mirror Smoothing Oil has made a huge difference in my hair. I have long, fine, wavy hair with bleached ends and oily roots. I have been trying to find the perfect thing to make my hair dazzle even though it needs a trip to the salon ASAP. I have found some really amazing products, but I ALWAYS have issues with my ends getting dry and frizzy within a day of a fresh wash. I started using R+Co's Mirror Smoothing Oil about a month ago, and it has changed my game. I use it on my ends when my hair is wet, and I also touch up with it when it's dry. Since I started using it, I haven't felt like my ends are dry. If they start to feel like they need a drink, I grab more oil and give it some love. It's lightweight, so it doesn't weigh down my hair at any point and my hair is glossier than ever. I started using it on my daughter's hair and have seen a huge difference in how healthy her hair looks. I don't know if I can ever live without it now.
Morgan's Top Picks
I love products that help me get ready and out the door in minimal time, so Sydney Grace's Cream Shadows have been my go to! They come in a variety of gorgeous shades that suit any look from subtle to bold! It is true that they are smudge proof, but they will easily wash off with a cleanser! Theylast the entire day without creasing or moving. Unlike some other cream shadows, you have some time to work with before it dries to ensure you're happy with the look, and a little goes a long way. Warm Glow is my favorite color. It's definiely a must-try for cream shadow lovers.
My second favorite this month is Grande Cosmetics Lash Serum. Lash serum is an excellent way to repair lash damage caused by mascara, extensions, and false lashes. Grande Cosmetics has the best serum on the market right now. You have to be consistent in order to see the results of thicker and more lashes, but it is well worth it!
Jess's Top Picks
If you’re a naturally wavy/curly girl - I HIGHLY suggest this Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray! I like to do the *bare minimum* when it comes to styling my hair. After a shower, I towel dry, add some leave-in and curl product, then braid my hair when damp overnight. When I wake up, I take the braid out, run my fingers through the waves, and spritz on a generous amount of this spray to maintain the curl and de-frizz! It LOOKS like it took hours to style, but really minimal effort! A win/win in my book.
If you, like me, are a chapstick babe - you should try RMS Beauty's Tinted Daily Lip Balm! It looks and feels luxurious without that sticky and drying feel of lipstick (iykyk). With a hint of color, it’s subtle yet natural looking while FEELING amazing.

Q + A with Esthetician and Makeup Artist Sonia Roselli
When it comes to skincare, it's important to ensure the products you're using are safe and effective for your skin type and your skin's needs. That's where esthetician and makeup artist Sonia Roselli comes in!
We proudly added her line of skin barrier-loving products this year, and in today's blog, she's sharing a bit more about herself, her favorite products, and her advice for makeup artists.
CRC: Can you tell us a bit about who you are and why skincare is so important to you?
SONIA: As a makeup artist for everyday folks for the last 30 years, skin barrier health is #1 when it comes to having healthy skin.
When your skin barrier is healthy, your skin is healthy which means your makeup looks better, and you’re less prone to redness and irritation, and even breakouts. As a young makeup artist, I was always way more into eyeshadows, as skincare was boring to me at the time. However once I became an esthetician and realized how good the skin looked after a facial and how good makeup looked after a facial, I knew then skin prep was way more important than eye shadows! When you can get the complexion right, everything else looks so much better. Trust me, it’s all about skin prep. It’s the foundation before foundation! It’s been my secret sauce for 20 years!
CRC: What products would you recommend for makeup artists?
SONIA: For a makeup artist, Sexapeel, Water Elixir, Water Balm, and Water Oil are perfect for all clients. I even like Japanese Cleansing Oil in my kit for when those clients sit in your chair and “swear” they took off their makeup from the night before (we all know they didn’t do a good job!). This gets the skin nice and clean and ready for makeup without over stripping the skin causing your foundation to look patchy.
CRC: What products would you recommend for male grooming?
SONIA: For male grooming, Sexapeel, Water Elixir, and Water Balm are perfect male grooming products. Water Elixir is great because it’s a moisturizer and serum in one. It is perfect when you only have seconds to get talent ready!
Sonia's PRO Tip: Sexapeel is great for men, but never use it on the naughty bits (this goes for the ladies, too)! That is just common sense.
CRC: What products would you recommend for our community members that aren't makeup artists?
SONIA: For sure, they should try Sexapeel, Water Elixir, and Water Oil!
Water Oil is my favorite. I have been obsessed with facial oils for my entire career, but this oil is so much different. It is so lightweight and makes your skin feel incredible. It's must have for dry, dehydrated skin, and mature skin.
CRC: What advice do you have for makeup artists as we continue into the new year?
SONIA: The best thing I can tell makeup artists for 2023 is this: This year is going to be a year where you really need to elevate your skills and you’re really going to need to get good at complexion and learn color matching of foundations.
You also need to be able to do any skin tone on the planet. If you don’t know, pay a seasoned pro to teach you. Don’t expect it for free. Many pros took years to perfect their craft.Another thing that has served me well is business training. If you don’t know how to run a business, you don’t have a business, you have a hobby. The best thing you can do if you want to make it in this industry is to treat your career like a business and learn as much as you can about skin, foundation, and the art of working with different personalities (shout out to my bridal pros who have this method down)!
CRC: Being a business owner, especially for skincare, can be so rewarding! Will you share your favorite feedback you've received?
SONIA: Oh my, this is so tough! I get so many wonderful emails from customers, it's hard to point to just one!
I think I love it when women over 40 years old email me to tell me they feel “seen”. Ageism is such a real problem in the beauty industry, and those emails truly make me melt!

Meet the Brushes Jennifer Lopez Used in her Vogue Get Ready With Me Video
When it comes to selecting the best makeup brushes and products, Jennifer Lopez likely has access to any makeup brushes or tools she could ever want, so we were thrilled to see she used some of the makeup brushes we proudly offer at Camera Ready!
Keep reading our blog to learn more about the brushes she used (and why they're great)!
The brushes Jennifer Lopez used in her Vogue Tutorial include:
Bdellium Studio Line Brush - 948 Foundation
Bdellium Studio Line Brush - 954 Duet Fiber Slanted Kabuki
Bdellium Studio Line Brush - 936 Concealer
Cozzette Magic Blender Brush
Bdellium 780 Pencil Brush
First, let's talk about the brush brands she used:
Bdellium Tools:
When looking for quality makeup brushes trusted by makeup artists, Bdellium Tools is the ideal choice for quality brushes at a great value. Their Studio Line of brushes offers a bright yellow rounded handle that's easy to hold and offers a large variety of face and eye brushes with bristles and shapes designed for specific application needs.
Cozzette:
Cozzette Beauty is a vegan, cruelty-free, and people-conscious brand created by professional makeup artist & photographer Roque Cozzette. After 3 decades working in the beauty, fashion, and celebrity makeup industry, Roque used his knowledge to create products that perform just as beautifully for everyday use as they do on film, so it's no wonder Jennifer Lopez keeps some of his brushes on hand!
Jennifer Lopez used Bdellium Studio Line Brush - 948 Foundation for her foundation and concealer.
Foundation and Concealer: Bdellium Studio Line 948 Foundation Brush
For foundation and concealer application, Jennifer Lopez used the Bdellium Studio Line 948 Foundation Brush. Along with a slightly thicker handle that allows the user more control while handling, it also provides even application for a perfect finish of a liquid or cream foundation/concealer.
Jennifer Lopez used a slanted kabuki brush from Bdellium Tools to carve out her cheeks.
Contour: Bdellium Tools Studio Line 954 Duet Fiber Slanted Kabuki Brush
Jennifer Lopez's signature makeup look includes a perfectly contoured face with chiseled cheekbones, so to achieve this look, she used the Bdellium Tools Studio Line 954 Duet Fiber Slanted Kabuki Brush. Just like the foundation brush, it features a slightly thicker handle for control, and the dual-length bristles allow for great coverage and easy blending.
Nose & Lip Contour: Bdellium Tools Studio Line 936 Concealer Brush
When it comes to ensuring precise application, the Bdellium 936 Concealer Brush is a perfect choice. It works well with both cream and powder products, and it has stiffer bristles that allowed Jennifer Lopez to achieve her signature contoured look! She used it to draw contour lines down her nose and around her lips.
More Nose Contour: Bdellium Tools Studio Line 780 Pencil Brush
Jennifer Lopez takes her nose contour seriously and used the Bdellium 780 Pencil Brush to reinforce the shading she created with the Bdellium Concealer Brush. The 780 Pencil Brush is actually eyeshadow brush, but the densely packed bristles come to a tapered tip allowing the user to apply makeup with greater detail. That being said, this technique takes a steady hand and a bit of practice, but Jennifer did it with ease!
For Diffusing Eyeshadow & Precise Powdering: Cozzette S165 Magic Blender Brush
Odds are you've seen a Cozzette brush or two in other celebrity and makeup artist tutorials, and that's because the brand and products are created by Roque Cozzette - an award-winning makeup artist and photographer! His products have been long-time favorites here at Camera Ready, and you'll often see others like Danessa Myricks using his tools, too. The S165 Magic Blender Brush is a true multitasker designed with faux squirrel hairs that give the brush its signature whisper-soft application!

Chelsie's Top Picks
I've talked about my favorite brow product (the Inglot Playinn Soap Brow!), but this month, I wanted to shine a much-deserved spotlight on my favorite brow tool, the MYKITCO Pro My Brushed Brow 2.3! One end has stiff bristles that look almost like a tiny hair brush to fluff up your brows, and the other has a spoolie to set those tiny hairs in place. It's one of my favorite tools in my kit!
The makeup item I have been loving is RMS Re Dimension Hydra Power Blush. It has the prettiest finish that makes your skin look healthier, almost glowy, and it helps my skin look even more radiant.
Maria's Top Pick
I've always loved hydrating facial mists, and the Rituel de Fille Thorn Milk has become a staple in my collection. Aside from just looking cool (it has a bi-phase liquid that needs to be shaken up to be mixed), it instantly soothes and calms your skin as soon as you spritz it on. Any dry patches or light irrititation I have is instantly smoothed over, and it plays so well under makeup!
All of my foundations have layered on top of it beautifully, and it keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day, so any dryness or makeup breakup I'd experience due to my skin getting drier throughout the day is gone. That says a lot, especially because we're in the middle of winter!
The other thing I've been using nonstop since I bought it is the Artis Mini Palm Brush. I am really picky when it comes to foundation application tools because the foundations I tend to like are the types that dry down super quickly, so they give you less time to blend and tend to look streaky if not used properly.
However, this Artis brush changes all of that! I was able to blend out the foundation on my entire face with less time spent blending and no need to apply more product to the brush - I was shocked that I could cover my entire face with less product than normal! I was even able to lightly tap the brush on areas I wanted fuller coverage (like over the sun spots on my cheeks), and it built up beautifully.

Nothing is keeping my summer glow like TheBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer, Shadow, and Contour Powder! I have been getting so many compliments about how glowy I look when wearing this product. It blends like a dream and is the perfect shade for transitioning to the colder months! I cannot recommend this product enough!
The second item I can't stop using is Mehron Barrier Spray. This setting spray is getting the job done for me during these colder months! Most setting sprays leave my face feeling stiff and dry, and while I don't normally mind that during the warmer months, I want something more hydrating as the weather starts to cool down. It brings the perfect amount of hydration back into my skin without feeling like my makeup is going to slide off my face. This is a staple during the fall/winter time!
Calvin's Top Picks
If you're looking for a powder like none other, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Matte Setting Powder is it; up to 24-hour wear (trust me, I've tested it), a matte formula that never creases and never shines, and it looks like the skin of an angel. Not kidding. I am a makeup artist and photographer, so I am very picky with how products look, and this one delivers. Even on photoshoots, I pack this powder under the eyes to lock in concealer, and it just leaves the most flawless, blurred, and smooth finish. The best part? I never have to touch up the model.
Now, for my second pick for the month: Glow, Glow, Glow, Glow!!! Do you want a natural glow? Do you want it to look realistic? We got you. Rituel de Fille's Thorn Oil Priming Facial Elixir is super hydrating but leaves the most gorgeous skin-like glow I've ever seen. Even with foundation over it, it gives this rich subtle skin. Feels beautiful, looks incredible.
Liz's Top Picks
I have to admit that I try everything Saint Jane launches because I have yet to be disappointed, and I am truly blown away by the Hydrabloom Body Silk. This lotion locks in hydration without leaving my skin feeling greasy or heavy. I saw an immediate, calming, and hydrating response in my skin texture to this cream (I have keratosis pilaris), and the smell is so relaxing. It's the perfect touch to add a little relaxation or self care into your day and would make an amazing gift to encourage the same for others.
I have been on a path of trying a million hair products as I am always looking for the next best thing, and Philip B's Forever Shine Collection caught me off guard. My hair is fine, wavy, and highlighted so it tends to be oily and flat at the roots and quite dry on the ends plus I am a mom on the go who does not always have time to blow out my hair. My hair has been left with a beautiful shine with zero frizz, defined waves, and perfect volume with or without heat. The scent is perfect for the colder season, and I have to admit I put the hair product sampling on hold for now as I am in awe with the results this collection has given my hair.
Morgan's Top Picks
This winter, I've been treating my skin to a bit of TLC with the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches. They are excellent if you want something hydrating and refreshing, and they don't slip and slide around like some other eye patches can. I look like I'm more alert and awake after using them, and I've even gotten my husband hooked on them! He appreciates that they smooth and lighten his dark circles.
Another must-have for me has been the Insert Name Here Quick Slick Flyaway Hair Essence. This product was one of the many reasons I was thrilled to bring on Insert Name Here. I love this thing! Do you have flyways? Not anymore! Do you have thin hair that doesn't like going in a ponytail? Not anymore! I use this when my hair is up or down. My daughter has fine hair and her baby hairs are unmanageable. However, this works wonders for getting her hair to behave!
Jess's Top Picks
If your skin errs more on the oily side like mine, do yourself a favor and ADD 👏 TO 👏 CART 👏. I don’t love it when my skin looks too matte, which is why I love Jason Wu's Magic Matte Oil! It takes away the “bad shine” while somehow still keeping the “good shine”, and doesn’t clog up my pores nor break me out! There's a reason we keep selling out of it - it's because it's that good!
I have also been really enjoying Jason Wu Beauty The Freckled Boy for the cutest faux freckles. Sometimes, you just need a good freckle day, and on those days, I use this to summon my inner freckle-faced goddess. Subtle but natural, which is exactly how I like it!

Skin Barrier 101: PRO Tips from MUA & Esthetician Sonia Roselli
Itchy, dry, and flaky skin is common in the winter or if you live in a dry climate, but sometimes these skin issues can be a sign that your skin barrier is damaged. Determining how you should treat it depends on numerous factors.
We compiled some of the top tips from professional makeup artist and esthetician Sonia Roselli to help you recognize if your skin barrier is damaged, to explain what can cause damage, and how to help heal your skin barrier.
If you'd like to start exploring her pro-approved skincare line, you may view it here!
What is the skin barrier?
Your skin is made up of many layers that help protect your body. Your skin barrier, the stratum corneum (outermost layer), is made up of thick skin cells called corneocytes bound together by lipids. It serves as a line of defense to keep environmental toxins out and helps keep your natural moisture inside your body.
Without the skin barrier, your natural moisture would evaporate and leave your skin vulnerable.
What makes the skin barrier different from other skin layers?
Your skin barrier is made of cholesterol, fatty acids, and ceramides. Over time, these building blocks can become depleted and lead to barrier damage and irritation. Environmental and lifestyle factors can also deplete your skin barrier.
How can you tell if your skin barrier is damaged?
The first step to healing your skin barrier is to figure out if your skin barrier is damaged.
What are some of the symptoms of a damaged skin barrier?
Redness
Irritation
Peeling/Flaking
Tightness
Breakouts
Rash
Rough Texture
Stinging/Burning
A stinging sensation when water touches the skin
Fine Lines, Crepiness
Dryness (Lack of oil)
Dehydration (Lack of water)
Eczema
What can damage the skin barrier
Now that you know how to tell if your skin barrier is damaged, take a look at some of the most common causes of a damaged skin barrier:
Over-exfoliation of any kind
Anything that exfoliates the skin, including at-home manual exfoliation tools
Not using the proper facial cleanser
Dry climates
Quality of water in your area
Alcohol in skincare
Not wearing sunscreen
Fragrance in skincare products
Medications
Genetics
Aging
Not using a good moisturizer
How can I repair my skin barrier if it's damaged?
If you think your skin barrier is damaged, it's always a good idea to work with a dermatologist and esthetician to diagnose and treat your skin, but there are a few things you can do at home to heal your skin, too. Your at-home goal is to re-hydrate your skin.
Ways to hydrate and repair the skin barrier at home:
Use the proper cleanse and moisturizer for your skin type
Take shorter, cooler showers
Take a look at the lifestyle factors that may be contributing to dehydration
The importance of choosing the right cleanser and moisturizer
A common misconception is that the cleanser you use doesn't matter, but Sonia reminds us why that isn't always true."Knowing your skin type and your skin 'lifestyle' (how often you'll wash your face, do you workout or sweat a lot) is key to choosing this 'gentle cleanser'," she says. "Using the wrong cleanser will lead to a broken skin barrier for some, and I am convinced a cleanser is the first step in a great skincare routine. If I am being 1000% honest, I think this is where most skin routines get into a trick bag, and then people wonder why their skin isn’t behaving when they’re using 3000 other skin care products."
The Best Facial Cleanser for Dry Skin Types
If you have dry skin, you may do well with a cream or oil cleanser. You definitely don’t want to use anything foaming or gel since it may be too stripping on your skin. Dry skin already has a heightened level of sensitivity, so watch out for any added fragrance, too.
The Best Facial Cleanser for Oily Skin
If you have oily skin you may like the feel of a gel cleanser. Oily skin tones like the feel of clean skin, but we don’t want that "over-clean" either.
The Best Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
If you’re sensitive, you may want to choose a cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin any more than it already is because sensitive skin usually has a degree of broken skin barrier. Avoid products with fragrance, and lightly pat the face dry.
As you see, a cleanser is more important than you think!
Using the Proper Moisturizer for Dehydrated Skin
Not using the proper moisturizer can cause dehydrated skin, too. Just like finding a good cleanser, finding the right moisturizer is critical. That's why Sonia created her skincare line to work for all skin types and formulated products that work for every step of your skincare routine. Her best selling Water Balm Skin Prep is a great moisturizer for all skin types and keeps your skin hydrated and supple for hours. The gel creme formula sinks in swiftly, evens out texture, brightens skin tone, and smooths imperfections. For those with dry skin, Water Oil Skin Prep is designed to give your skin the rich hydration it needs. She formulated both Water Balm & Water Oil to work well under makeup and to also be rich and hydrating enough to be used as a part of your nightly routine.
How to combat weather or lifestyle-related dehydration factors
Lifestyle and weather-related factors are among the most common factors that can lead to dehydrated skin, but don't worry! There are some easy steps you can follow to help.
Weather-related Dehydration
Where you live also plays an important role in skin dehydration. Living in dry, cold, or hot climates can cause the water in our skin to evaporate faster.
Sonia's favorite way to add moisture to the skin throughout the day is to incorporate a facial mist into your routine. She recommends adding Water Elixir to an atomizer and to spritz it on the face throughout the day to replenish the skin with ceramides and nourishing moisture.Sonia's PRO Tip: Whatever you do, don’t use tap water to mist on your face. It is full of minerals that may be irritating to your already dry, dehydrated skin.
Lifestyle-related factors that dehydrate the skin
Love a good cocktail or coffee? These tasty beverages can be okay in moderation, but caffeine and alcohol can dehydrate the skin, so if your skin barrier is damaged, consider cutting back! Likewise, certain medications and even long, hot showers can contribute to dehydration.
Thankfully, the solutions for these factors are easy. Drink more water, turn down the temperature on your shower, and consider adding a humidifier to amp up the moisture in the air around you.
In Conclusion
As you have learned, numerous factors can impact your skin barrier's health! Taking the time to find the proper skincare for your skin type and lifestyle, staying hydrated, and recognizing the symptoms of a damaged skin barrier early on, you'll enjoy healthier and happier skin!
If you're working on repairing your skin barrier, be patient, and stay consistent. Rebuilding a healthy barrier can take time, but it's worth the effort and dedication.
About Sonia Roselli and Sonia Roselli Skincare
Sonia is a makeup artist and esthetician with more than 30 years of experience. Although her skin looks great now, it wasn’t always as healthy! In 2006, she had a total hysterectomy and developed skin issues and sensitivity. Her "bad skin" made her feel bad about herself, especially since her job as a makeup artist was to help others feel beautiful. A question she often asked herself was, “How could I promote great skin and great makeup when I, myself, didn't have it anymore?”
That’s when Sonia Roselli skincare was born. When developing her skincare products, she set out to make products that worked for skin prep before makeup but were still gentle for sensitive skin and anyone that sat in her makeup chair. Her products are beloved by makeup artists and skincare enthusiast lovers of all genders, ages, and skin types because they promote healthy skin barriers and can be used for your morning, daytime, and nighttime skincare routine!

First, let's tackle the top questions about CBD when it comes to beauty: What is CBD, and will it get me high if I use CBD beauty products?
CBD is a natural compound derived from the cannabis plant. Heralded for its restorative power for all skin types, including acne-prone and sensitive skin, CBD is proven to help reduce inflammation and support the skin’s natural healing process. That's why we've added award-winning CBD-infused skincare and hair care brands to our Camera Ready family!
Now, as far as if CBD Beauty products will get you high. The answer is no. CBD is one of 100+ cannabinoids (chemical compound found in hemp plants) that stabilizes the body and helps maintain health. You’ll find traces of CBD in marijuana, but CBD alone is non-psychoactive and legal to purchase in an isolated form.
The cannabinoid compound infamously known to get you high is called THC. This particular plant derivative is responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana.
*Disclaimer - As with any big change in your skincare or hair care regimen that focuses on ingredients, if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you're reading this article to decide if you'd like to use this product on a child, we highly recommend checking with your doctor first.

Benefit #1 of CBD in skincare and hair care: CBD can alleviate acne, redness, and inflammation
CBD oil is an effective and natural anti-inflammatory. Those who suffer from inflammatory skin conditions, like rosacea, benefit from the soothing properties found inside CBD. This miracle ingredient also reduces breakouts and calms redness by decreasing excessive levels of oil produced by the skin – a major trigger for acne-prone skin.
Our Top Picks:
For those suffering from stress-related hair loss, hair care products infused with CBD like FITISH Plumping Hair Serum can help reduce inflammation of the scalp - one of the biggest contributing factors to non-hereditary hair loss!
For those wanting to tone down the redness on their face, FITISH Tone Down Spray has become pro favorites thanks to the cooling effect and instant relief. For those with oily skin, we love FITISH Don't Sweat It. For added hydration, seal in moisture with the nourishing CBD-infused Saint Jane Luxury Beauty Serum.

Benefit #2 of CBD in skincare and hair care: It provides nourishment to sensitive skin and can alleviate some skin conditions
CBD oil inhibits flare-ups in some skin conditions, like psoriasis and eczema, and helps soothe sensitive, easily-irritated skin. Incorporate a CBD-infused beauty product into your daily routine to nourish skin and lock in moisture for healthy, glowing skin.
Our Picks:
For a lotion that's great to use all over the body, try Saint Jane Hydrabloom Body Silk. Powerful ingredients like their Sea Flower Complex firm and tone while wild chamomile, hyaluronic acid, and jasmine provide deep hydration, soothing moisture, and soften the skin. If you love a body product that provides a soothing cooling sensation, FITISH Tone Down Body Cream has peppermint and caffeine for additional benefits!
Key ingredients in KOVO Bakuchiol Serum11 Alternative Retinol
Benefit #3 of CBD in skincare and hair care: CBD can slow down some of the effects of aging
CBD in skincare combats the visible signs of aging with powerful antioxidant properties. Along with reducing inflammation, it can rejuvenate a dull complexion, even skin tone, and help smooth fine lines and wrinkles. That’s the power of CBD.
The CBD-focused brands we offer including KOVO, FITISH, and Saint Jane, have also upped the anti-aging benefits with peptides, other calming botanicals like chamomile, and antioxidants like green tea.
Our Top Picks:
FITISH Beauty’s Dewing It CBD Moisturizer soothes irritation, calms redness, and gently nourishes with anti-aging ingredients for all skin types. If you're looking for an oil-based serum, we recommend KOVO Bakuchiol Serum11 Alternative Retinol.

Five Reasons We Love William Tuttle Creme Foundation & the Best Alternative Products
Dewy, luminous, healthy-looking skin is in, and foundations that give that beautiful look have been going viral on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and beyond! Last year, RCMA Cream Foundation was among our most popular products thanks to Makeup Artist and Influencer @Paintedbyspencer, and this year has already kicked off with another viral surge for PRO favorite William Tuttle Creme Foundation!
However, long before people were raving about the beautiful luminous skin-like finish on social media, makeup artists were using William Tuttle Creme Foundation in their kits to create a beautiful, natural complexion on their clients for film, television, and events.
In this blog, we'll discuss:
Why William Tuttle Creme Foundation is such a great foundation for dewy natural-looking skin

Five Reasons We Love William Tuttle Creme Foundation
If you're looking for a lightweight full coverage foundation that doesn't need to be set and gives a natural, healthy skin, dewy finish, William Tuttle Creme Foundation may be the perfect match!
This creamy formula is easy to blend, has high pigmentation, and has been trusted by makeup artists for the most important jobs including applying makeup for television, movies, and big events.
The top 5 reasons we love William Tuttle Creme Foundation include:
It doesn't have to be set with powder! The unique formula looks great and is long-lasting with or without powder.
It is incredibly affordable for the great quality you're getting! It's just $15 for 17 grams!
It is highly pigmented, so a little goes a very long way.
William Tuttle Creme Foundation looks beautiful on all skin types including textured and mature skin.
It looks best when applied with a dry sponge, but it still looks beautiful when applied with a dense brush or finger tips!
PRO Tip: We do not recommend applying with a completely saturated sponge because the formula is oil and wax-based (a very lightly wet sponge with the water squeeze out of it is fine if you prefer the sponge texture when it's slightly wet). If you have skin that is sensitive to formulas that are oil or wax-based, check out our recommendations below!
Who is William Tuttle?
William Tuttle was one of the pioneers in Makeup Artistry and won several awards as a makeup artist between the 1940s and 1980s. He served as the head of MGM's makeup department for more than three decades and taught makeup artistry to budding makeup professionals. After he left MGM, he created his beloved William Tuttle Creme Foundation, highly pigmented cream blushes, powder, and color correctors.
His full line of makeup includes cream contour products and cream highlighters.

Our Top Alternatives for William Tuttle Creme Foundation
If you are looking for an alternative for William Tuttle Creme Foundation, our team has curated a list of products we think you'll love!
High-Coverage Foundation Alternatives for William Tuttle Creme Foundation:
Joe Blasco Ultrabase Foundation
Joe Blasco Ultrabase Foundation is a great alternative for William Tuttle Creme Foundation because it's another emollient cream-based foundation with higher pigment levels to provide excellent coverage while still feeling lightweight! This pro-favorite formula has also gone viral in the past when Kim Kardashian shared her at-home makeup routine in 2020. We offer the full-size as well as samples to help shade match.
RCMA Cream & Liquid Foundations
If you want to stick with a cream formula, RCMA Cream Foundation is another highly pigmented foundation with full coverage that has skyrocketed to social media fame. Many makeup artists keep this foundation stocked in their kits because a little goes a long way, and you can mix it with moisturizers like Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate to sheer it out for an additional glow. It's available in a variety of sizes from full palettes with a wide range of shades to four-pan or five-pan options, as well as individual containers. We sell samples of it, too! The biggest differences are that this formula provides a more natural finish instead of glowy, and it is thicker in consistency.
The RCMA Liquid Foundation is a full coverage foundation that hydrates the skin and provides a natural finish, and influencers like Tati Westbrook have sung its praises on YouTube! It provides a natural finish that looks great on a wide range of sky types, and you guessed it! We sell the full-size and samples of it, too.
Glowy, Dewy, and Luminous Foundation Alternatives for William Tuttle Creme Foundation
Smashbox HALO Healthy Glow All-in-One Tinted Moisturizer
Primer-infused for all-day wear, this tinted moisturizer provides SPF 25 sun protection for a healthy glow as it primes, perfects, protects, and hydrates skin. The coverage is sheerer than the William Tuttle Creme Foundation, but the finish is just as dewy and beautiful! We also recommend this as a lighter-weight option for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation
Another makeup industry favorite, Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation is a lightweight, hydrating, and dewy finish foundation that perfects the skin with each wear. It's a makeup artist favorite for film and photography because it smooths over fine lines and texture with ease and covers over small imperfections with light-reflecting pigments. Their unique formula creates a blurring and brightening effect on the skin to provide an "I just had a professional facial" glow! We proudly offer full-size bottles and samples.
Graftobian HD Creme Foundation
Another makeup artist must-have when their client wants a dewy, healthy skin foundation, Graftobian HD Creme Foundation offers a more glowy finish and is buildable to full-coverage. You can find it in palette form, individual containers, refills, and even samples!

Soft Glam Bridal Makeup by Chelsea Marie
Chelsea Marie is a professional makeup artist and photographer based in the Virginia area and specializes in bridal makeup as well as makeup for film, editorial, and tv.
Chelsea's PRO Tip: "When working on complexion, I love to use a setting spray like Make Up For Ever Mist + Fix in between each step to create a flawless and everlasting makeup."
