I've always been a big fan of the Cinema Secrets Blood Gel - it's a thick liquid that gives a nice mix of texture, color and a range of uses for application (drips, scrapes, fine detail work). It's not a hard gel and will remain wet, but the thickness of it prevents it from running too much. For best application, I've found a stipple sponge or q-tip (for detail) work best. Over the years I've gone through about 8 of the 8-oz. bottles of this and have always been a fan. As of late-2015, it's been rebranded under Cinema Secrets' "Woochie" line and isn't quite the same. The color is much more of a raspberry, giving pink/purple tones more than the dark red/aged purple that the original recipe did. Comparing an old Cinema Secrets bottle next to the new Woochie bottle, the difference is visible when applied as a thin layer, but the Woochie one still works nice as a layered effect. I found for best look, allow the blood gel to "air out" for a few days (placing it in a squeeze-bottle allowing air to enter works great for this), which will create a slightly thicker texture which will hold together great during an application while also giving a stringy-blood effect when pulled away.

Great blood effect, late-2015 rebrand not quite the same though
