Chelsie's Top Picks
I've been highly anticipating the Sonia Roselli launch, and one of the first items I picked out was the Water Elixir Skin Prep! I've been using it for a few weeks now and I'm already SO in love with it! It's so lightweight and soothing, calms inflammation quickly, and absorbs into my skin almost instantly. I love that it doubles as a serum AND moisturizer. It adds some much needed hydration and helps to build up my skin barrier (check out our Sonia Roselli Live, if you haven't already!). My skin feels so soft, plump, and dewy after using it, and I've noticed a considerable improvement in my skin texture. It's the perfect product to use before makeup, as it gives my skin a lovely, glowing base! I can't wait to use it on my clients and models!
I absolutely LOVE the Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner - it's quickly become one of my go-to products! When I'm having an especially dry day (pretty much every day lately), I quickly spritz some of this on to get an instant boost of moisture. I love that it contains hyaluronic acid, my favorite ingredient, to provide continuous hydration, but what really makes this toner stand out is that it also protects and primes your skin with antioxidants and refreshing ingredients (thank you CoQ10 and Chamomile). Plus, it's a super-fine mist so it doesn't interfere with my makeup! Overall, this toner is perfect for keeping your skin hydrated, refreshed and protected throughout the day!
August's Top Picks
I am totally obsessed with Danessa Myricks' Vision Flush! As a no-makeup makeup fanatic, this is the perfect product to add some color onto your face. I'm personally in love with shade Ballet Slippers and use it as blush whenever I can along with a pop on my eyes. It is super soft, creamy, and incredibly pigmented. A few taps covers everything I need.
I also love love love the Dose of Colors Velvet Mousse Lipsticks. They have a range of gorgeous deep colors (my fav is Spicy) that are highly pigmented and a super soft non-drying formula. These are my go to for date night and will last through it all while still being super comfortable on your lips!
Holly's Top Picks
I am slowly transitioning my makeup routine to all cream products and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Blush has become my newest obsession! Every shade is so beautiful and flattering. It's so easy to blend and dries down very nicely - I don't even need to set it with a powder blush. I love wearing them when I do a very natural makeup look to keep my face looking fresh and radiant!
My second pick for the month is one I've been wanting to buy for a while and am so glad I caved! I never felt like I needed to invest in a nice makeup light to do my skincare and makeup until I came across the Glamcor RIKI Skinny LED Vanity Mirror. It truly has changed my morning and night routine! It is so nice to sit down in the morning in front of great lighting to do my skincare/makeup while sipping on my morning coffee! Talk about self care! It is also super easy to travel with considering the size. I am IN LOVE with this light.
Calvin's Top Picks
I know a great lipstick formula when I see one, and the new Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Nudes are amazing. Longwear, highly pigmented, a beautiful and line smoothing soft matte finish, super lightweight on the lips, AND a nude for all skin tones? This revolutionary formula is the answer to lip color. Swipe, Swipe, Go!!!
Since skin prep is an essential step of my job as a makeup artist, I had to name the Rituel de Fille Thorn Milk Hydrating Skin Mist as my second top pick (one of my coworkers selected it last month, but it's just that good that it needs to be name a top pick again)! I have extremely dry skin, so I like to test products on myself to see how they'll perform on clients with similar skin types, and knowing how the product performs all day is also the best way to elevate your artistry. Great makeup artists will know how the products will look all day/night long. This makes my feel hydrated, healthy and relaxed. I use it on clients right before all other skin prep just to give that layer of hydration to the skin so that it's not soaking up all the other products.
Liz's Top Picks
Even though I've curated the best skincare routine (thanks to having the best brands to choose from at work!), there are times my skin doesn't like to behave. It has texture and some spots that are prone to being oily while others want to be bone dry. When Sonia Roselli told me about her Water Oil Skin Prep, I was intrigued, but I have to say that it's really one of a kind. It's lightweight and locks in hydration. My skin is left with less texture and feels balanced. Plus, it makes my life on the go easier and helps me look flawless when I wear makeup. Hands down a must-have for my every day essentials.
Apparently, I am on an oil kick right now, and R+Co's Mirror Smoothing Oil has made a huge difference in my hair. I have long, fine, wavy hair with bleached ends and oily roots. I have been trying to find the perfect thing to make my hair dazzle even though it needs a trip to the salon ASAP. I have found some really amazing products, but I ALWAYS have issues with my ends getting dry and frizzy within a day of a fresh wash. I started using R+Co's Mirror Smoothing Oil about a month ago, and it has changed my game. I use it on my ends when my hair is wet, and I also touch up with it when it's dry. Since I started using it, I haven't felt like my ends are dry. If they start to feel like they need a drink, I grab more oil and give it some love. It's lightweight, so it doesn't weigh down my hair at any point and my hair is glossier than ever. I started using it on my daughter's hair and have seen a huge difference in how healthy her hair looks. I don't know if I can ever live without it now.
Morgan's Top Picks
I love products that help me get ready and out the door in minimal time, so Sydney Grace's Cream Shadows have been my go to! They come in a variety of gorgeous shades that suit any look from subtle to bold! It is true that they are smudge proof, but they will easily wash off with a cleanser! Theylast the entire day without creasing or moving. Unlike some other cream shadows, you have some time to work with before it dries to ensure you're happy with the look, and a little goes a long way. Warm Glow is my favorite color. It's definiely a must-try for cream shadow lovers.
My second favorite this month is Grande Cosmetics Lash Serum. Lash serum is an excellent way to repair lash damage caused by mascara, extensions, and false lashes. Grande Cosmetics has the best serum on the market right now. You have to be consistent in order to see the results of thicker and more lashes, but it is well worth it!
Jess's Top Picks
If you’re a naturally wavy/curly girl - I HIGHLY suggest this Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray! I like to do the *bare minimum* when it comes to styling my hair. After a shower, I towel dry, add some leave-in and curl product, then braid my hair when damp overnight. When I wake up, I take the braid out, run my fingers through the waves, and spritz on a generous amount of this spray to maintain the curl and de-frizz! It LOOKS like it took hours to style, but really minimal effort! A win/win in my book.
If you, like me, are a chapstick babe - you should try RMS Beauty's Tinted Daily Lip Balm! It looks and feels luxurious without that sticky and drying feel of lipstick (iykyk). With a hint of color, it’s subtle yet natural looking while FEELING amazing.

Q + A with Esthetician and Makeup Artist Sonia Roselli
When it comes to skincare, it's important to ensure the products you're using are safe and effective for your skin type and your skin's needs. That's where esthetician and makeup artist Sonia Roselli comes in!
We proudly added her line of skin barrier-loving products this year, and in today's blog, she's sharing a bit more about herself, her favorite products, and her advice for makeup artists.
CRC: Can you tell us a bit about who you are and why skincare is so important to you?
SONIA: As a makeup artist for everyday folks for the last 30 years, skin barrier health is #1 when it comes to having healthy skin.
When your skin barrier is healthy, your skin is healthy which means your makeup looks better, and you’re less prone to redness and irritation, and even breakouts. As a young makeup artist, I was always way more into eyeshadows, as skincare was boring to me at the time. However once I became an esthetician and realized how good the skin looked after a facial and how good makeup looked after a facial, I knew then skin prep was way more important than eye shadows! When you can get the complexion right, everything else looks so much better. Trust me, it’s all about skin prep. It’s the foundation before foundation! It’s been my secret sauce for 20 years!
CRC: What products would you recommend for makeup artists?
SONIA: For a makeup artist, Sexapeel, Water Elixir, Water Balm, and Water Oil are perfect for all clients. I even like Japanese Cleansing Oil in my kit for when those clients sit in your chair and “swear” they took off their makeup from the night before (we all know they didn’t do a good job!). This gets the skin nice and clean and ready for makeup without over stripping the skin causing your foundation to look patchy.
CRC: What products would you recommend for male grooming?
SONIA: For male grooming, Sexapeel, Water Elixir, and Water Balm are perfect male grooming products. Water Elixir is great because it’s a moisturizer and serum in one. It is perfect when you only have seconds to get talent ready!
Sonia's PRO Tip: Sexapeel is great for men, but never use it on the naughty bits (this goes for the ladies, too)! That is just common sense.
CRC: What products would you recommend for our community members that aren't makeup artists?
SONIA: For sure, they should try Sexapeel, Water Elixir, and Water Oil!
Water Oil is my favorite. I have been obsessed with facial oils for my entire career, but this oil is so much different. It is so lightweight and makes your skin feel incredible. It's must have for dry, dehydrated skin, and mature skin.
CRC: What advice do you have for makeup artists as we continue into the new year?
SONIA: The best thing I can tell makeup artists for 2023 is this: This year is going to be a year where you really need to elevate your skills and you’re really going to need to get good at complexion and learn color matching of foundations.
You also need to be able to do any skin tone on the planet. If you don’t know, pay a seasoned pro to teach you. Don’t expect it for free. Many pros took years to perfect their craft.Another thing that has served me well is business training. If you don’t know how to run a business, you don’t have a business, you have a hobby. The best thing you can do if you want to make it in this industry is to treat your career like a business and learn as much as you can about skin, foundation, and the art of working with different personalities (shout out to my bridal pros who have this method down)!
CRC: Being a business owner, especially for skincare, can be so rewarding! Will you share your favorite feedback you've received?
SONIA: Oh my, this is so tough! I get so many wonderful emails from customers, it's hard to point to just one!
I think I love it when women over 40 years old email me to tell me they feel “seen”. Ageism is such a real problem in the beauty industry, and those emails truly make me melt!

I've talked about my favorite brow product (the Inglot Playinn Soap Brow!), but this month, I wanted to shine a much-deserved spotlight on my favorite brow tool, the MYKITCO Pro My Brushed Brow 2.3! One end has stiff bristles that look almost like a tiny hair brush to fluff up your brows, and the other has a spoolie to set those tiny hairs in place. It's one of my favorite tools in my kit!
The makeup item I have been loving is RMS Re Dimension Hydra Power Blush. It has the prettiest finish that makes your skin look healthier, almost glowy, and it helps my skin look even more radiant.
Maria's Top Pick
I've always loved hydrating facial mists, and the Rituel de Fille Thorn Milk has become a staple in my collection. Aside from just looking cool (it has a bi-phase liquid that needs to be shaken up to be mixed), it instantly soothes and calms your skin as soon as you spritz it on. Any dry patches or light irrititation I have is instantly smoothed over, and it plays so well under makeup!
All of my foundations have layered on top of it beautifully, and it keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day, so any dryness or makeup breakup I'd experience due to my skin getting drier throughout the day is gone. That says a lot, especially because we're in the middle of winter!
The other thing I've been using nonstop since I bought it is the Artis Mini Palm Brush. I am really picky when it comes to foundation application tools because the foundations I tend to like are the types that dry down super quickly, so they give you less time to blend and tend to look streaky if not used properly.
However, this Artis brush changes all of that! I was able to blend out the foundation on my entire face with less time spent blending and no need to apply more product to the brush - I was shocked that I could cover my entire face with less product than normal! I was even able to lightly tap the brush on areas I wanted fuller coverage (like over the sun spots on my cheeks), and it built up beautifully.

Nothing is keeping my summer glow like TheBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer, Shadow, and Contour Powder! I have been getting so many compliments about how glowy I look when wearing this product. It blends like a dream and is the perfect shade for transitioning to the colder months! I cannot recommend this product enough!
The second item I can't stop using is Mehron Barrier Spray. This setting spray is getting the job done for me during these colder months! Most setting sprays leave my face feeling stiff and dry, and while I don't normally mind that during the warmer months, I want something more hydrating as the weather starts to cool down. It brings the perfect amount of hydration back into my skin without feeling like my makeup is going to slide off my face. This is a staple during the fall/winter time!
Calvin's Top Picks
If you're looking for a powder like none other, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Matte Setting Powder is it; up to 24-hour wear (trust me, I've tested it), a matte formula that never creases and never shines, and it looks like the skin of an angel. Not kidding. I am a makeup artist and photographer, so I am very picky with how products look, and this one delivers. Even on photoshoots, I pack this powder under the eyes to lock in concealer, and it just leaves the most flawless, blurred, and smooth finish. The best part? I never have to touch up the model.
Now, for my second pick for the month: Glow, Glow, Glow, Glow!!! Do you want a natural glow? Do you want it to look realistic? We got you. Rituel de Fille's Thorn Oil Priming Facial Elixir is super hydrating but leaves the most gorgeous skin-like glow I've ever seen. Even with foundation over it, it gives this rich subtle skin. Feels beautiful, looks incredible.

I have to admit that I try everything Saint Jane launches because I have yet to be disappointed, and I am truly blown away by the Hydrabloom Body Silk. This lotion locks in hydration without leaving my skin feeling greasy or heavy. I saw an immediate, calming, and hydrating response in my skin texture to this cream (I have keratosis pilaris), and the smell is so relaxing. It's the perfect touch to add a little relaxation or self care into your day and would make an amazing gift to encourage the same for others.
I have been on a path of trying a million hair products as I am always looking for the next best thing, and Philip B's Forever Shine Collection caught me off guard. My hair is fine, wavy, and highlighted so it tends to be oily and flat at the roots and quite dry on the ends plus I am a mom on the go who does not always have time to blow out my hair. My hair has been left with a beautiful shine with zero frizz, defined waves, and perfect volume with or without heat. The scent is perfect for the colder season, and I have to admit I put the hair product sampling on hold for now as I am in awe with the results this collection has given my hair.
Morgan's Top Picks
This winter, I've been treating my skin to a bit of TLC with the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches. They are excellent if you want something hydrating and refreshing, and they don't slip and slide around like some other eye patches can. I look like I'm more alert and awake after using them, and I've even gotten my husband hooked on them! He appreciates that they smooth and lighten his dark circles.
Another must-have for me has been the Insert Name Here Quick Slick Flyaway Hair Essence. This product was one of the many reasons I was thrilled to bring on Insert Name Here. I love this thing! Do you have flyways? Not anymore! Do you have thin hair that doesn't like going in a ponytail? Not anymore! I use this when my hair is up or down. My daughter has fine hair and her baby hairs are unmanageable. However, this works wonders for getting her hair to behave!
Jess's Top Picks
If your skin errs more on the oily side like mine, do yourself a favor and ADD 👏 TO 👏 CART 👏. I don’t love it when my skin looks too matte, which is why I love Jason Wu's Magic Matte Oil! It takes away the “bad shine” while somehow still keeping the “good shine”, and doesn’t clog up my pores nor break me out! There's a reason we keep selling out of it - it's because it's that good!
I have also been really enjoying Jason Wu Beauty The Freckled Boy for the cutest faux freckles. Sometimes, you just need a good freckle day, and on those days, I use this to summon my inner freckle-faced goddess. Subtle but natural, which is exactly how I like it!

Skin Barrier 101: PRO Tips from MUA & Esthetician Sonia Roselli
Itchy, dry, and flaky skin is common in the winter or if you live in a dry climate, but sometimes these skin issues can be a sign that your skin barrier is damaged. Determining how you should treat it depends on numerous factors.
We compiled some of the top tips from professional makeup artist and esthetician Sonia Roselli to help you recognize if your skin barrier is damaged, to explain what can cause damage, and how to help heal your skin barrier.
If you'd like to start exploring her pro-approved skincare line, you may view it here!
What is the skin barrier?
Your skin is made up of many layers that help protect your body. Your skin barrier, the stratum corneum (outermost layer), is made up of thick skin cells called corneocytes bound together by lipids. It serves as a line of defense to keep environmental toxins out and helps keep your natural moisture inside your body.
Without the skin barrier, your natural moisture would evaporate and leave your skin vulnerable.
What makes the skin barrier different from other skin layers?
Your skin barrier is made of cholesterol, fatty acids, and ceramides. Over time, these building blocks can become depleted and lead to barrier damage and irritation. Environmental and lifestyle factors can also deplete your skin barrier.
How can you tell if your skin barrier is damaged?
The first step to healing your skin barrier is to figure out if your skin barrier is damaged.
What are some of the symptoms of a damaged skin barrier?
Redness
Irritation
Peeling/Flaking
Tightness
Breakouts
Rash
Rough Texture
Stinging/Burning
A stinging sensation when water touches the skin
Fine Lines, Crepiness
Dryness (Lack of oil)
Dehydration (Lack of water)
Eczema
What can damage the skin barrier
Now that you know how to tell if your skin barrier is damaged, take a look at some of the most common causes of a damaged skin barrier:
Over-exfoliation of any kind
Anything that exfoliates the skin, including at-home manual exfoliation tools
Not using the proper facial cleanser
Dry climates
Quality of water in your area
Alcohol in skincare
Not wearing sunscreen
Fragrance in skincare products
Medications
Genetics
Aging
Not using a good moisturizer
How can I repair my skin barrier if it's damaged?
If you think your skin barrier is damaged, it's always a good idea to work with a dermatologist and esthetician to diagnose and treat your skin, but there are a few things you can do at home to heal your skin, too. Your at-home goal is to re-hydrate your skin.
Ways to hydrate and repair the skin barrier at home:
Use the proper cleanse and moisturizer for your skin type
Take shorter, cooler showers
Take a look at the lifestyle factors that may be contributing to dehydration
The importance of choosing the right cleanser and moisturizer
A common misconception is that the cleanser you use doesn't matter, but Sonia reminds us why that isn't always true."Knowing your skin type and your skin 'lifestyle' (how often you'll wash your face, do you workout or sweat a lot) is key to choosing this 'gentle cleanser'," she says. "Using the wrong cleanser will lead to a broken skin barrier for some, and I am convinced a cleanser is the first step in a great skincare routine. If I am being 1000% honest, I think this is where most skin routines get into a trick bag, and then people wonder why their skin isn’t behaving when they’re using 3000 other skin care products."
The Best Facial Cleanser for Dry Skin Types
If you have dry skin, you may do well with a cream or oil cleanser. You definitely don’t want to use anything foaming or gel since it may be too stripping on your skin. Dry skin already has a heightened level of sensitivity, so watch out for any added fragrance, too.
The Best Facial Cleanser for Oily Skin
If you have oily skin you may like the feel of a gel cleanser. Oily skin tones like the feel of clean skin, but we don’t want that "over-clean" either.
The Best Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
If you’re sensitive, you may want to choose a cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin any more than it already is because sensitive skin usually has a degree of broken skin barrier. Avoid products with fragrance, and lightly pat the face dry.
As you see, a cleanser is more important than you think!
Using the Proper Moisturizer for Dehydrated Skin
Not using the proper moisturizer can cause dehydrated skin, too. Just like finding a good cleanser, finding the right moisturizer is critical. That's why Sonia created her skincare line to work for all skin types and formulated products that work for every step of your skincare routine. Her best selling Water Balm Skin Prep is a great moisturizer for all skin types and keeps your skin hydrated and supple for hours. The gel creme formula sinks in swiftly, evens out texture, brightens skin tone, and smooths imperfections. For those with dry skin, Water Oil Skin Prep is designed to give your skin the rich hydration it needs. She formulated both Water Balm & Water Oil to work well under makeup and to also be rich and hydrating enough to be used as a part of your nightly routine.
How to combat weather or lifestyle-related dehydration factors
Lifestyle and weather-related factors are among the most common factors that can lead to dehydrated skin, but don't worry! There are some easy steps you can follow to help.
Weather-related Dehydration
Where you live also plays an important role in skin dehydration. Living in dry, cold, or hot climates can cause the water in our skin to evaporate faster.
Sonia's favorite way to add moisture to the skin throughout the day is to incorporate a facial mist into your routine. She recommends adding Water Elixir to an atomizer and to spritz it on the face throughout the day to replenish the skin with ceramides and nourishing moisture.Sonia's PRO Tip: Whatever you do, don’t use tap water to mist on your face. It is full of minerals that may be irritating to your already dry, dehydrated skin.
Lifestyle-related factors that dehydrate the skin
Love a good cocktail or coffee? These tasty beverages can be okay in moderation, but caffeine and alcohol can dehydrate the skin, so if your skin barrier is damaged, consider cutting back! Likewise, certain medications and even long, hot showers can contribute to dehydration.
Thankfully, the solutions for these factors are easy. Drink more water, turn down the temperature on your shower, and consider adding a humidifier to amp up the moisture in the air around you.
In Conclusion
As you have learned, numerous factors can impact your skin barrier's health! Taking the time to find the proper skincare for your skin type and lifestyle, staying hydrated, and recognizing the symptoms of a damaged skin barrier early on, you'll enjoy healthier and happier skin!
If you're working on repairing your skin barrier, be patient, and stay consistent. Rebuilding a healthy barrier can take time, but it's worth the effort and dedication.
About Sonia Roselli and Sonia Roselli Skincare
Sonia is a makeup artist and esthetician with more than 30 years of experience. Although her skin looks great now, it wasn’t always as healthy! In 2006, she had a total hysterectomy and developed skin issues and sensitivity. Her "bad skin" made her feel bad about herself, especially since her job as a makeup artist was to help others feel beautiful. A question she often asked herself was, “How could I promote great skin and great makeup when I, myself, didn't have it anymore?”
That’s when Sonia Roselli skincare was born. When developing her skincare products, she set out to make products that worked for skin prep before makeup but were still gentle for sensitive skin and anyone that sat in her makeup chair. Her products are beloved by makeup artists and skincare enthusiast lovers of all genders, ages, and skin types because they promote healthy skin barriers and can be used for your morning, daytime, and nighttime skincare routine!

First, let's tackle the top questions about CBD when it comes to beauty: What is CBD, and will it get me high if I use CBD beauty products?
CBD is a natural compound derived from the cannabis plant. Heralded for its restorative power for all skin types, including acne-prone and sensitive skin, CBD is proven to help reduce inflammation and support the skin’s natural healing process. That's why we've added award-winning CBD-infused skincare and hair care brands to our Camera Ready family!
Now, as far as if CBD Beauty products will get you high. The answer is no. CBD is one of 100+ cannabinoids (chemical compound found in hemp plants) that stabilizes the body and helps maintain health. You’ll find traces of CBD in marijuana, but CBD alone is non-psychoactive and legal to purchase in an isolated form.
The cannabinoid compound infamously known to get you high is called THC. This particular plant derivative is responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana.
*Disclaimer - As with any big change in your skincare or hair care regimen that focuses on ingredients, if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you're reading this article to decide if you'd like to use this product on a child, we highly recommend checking with your doctor first.

Benefit #1 of CBD in skincare and hair care: CBD can alleviate acne, redness, and inflammation
CBD oil is an effective and natural anti-inflammatory. Those who suffer from inflammatory skin conditions, like rosacea, benefit from the soothing properties found inside CBD. This miracle ingredient also reduces breakouts and calms redness by decreasing excessive levels of oil produced by the skin – a major trigger for acne-prone skin.
Our Top Picks:
For those suffering from stress-related hair loss, hair care products infused with CBD like FITISH Plumping Hair Serum can help reduce inflammation of the scalp - one of the biggest contributing factors to non-hereditary hair loss!
For those wanting to tone down the redness on their face, FITISH Tone Down Spray has become pro favorites thanks to the cooling effect and instant relief. For those with oily skin, we love FITISH Don't Sweat It. For added hydration, seal in moisture with the nourishing CBD-infused Saint Jane Luxury Beauty Serum.

Benefit #2 of CBD in skincare and hair care: It provides nourishment to sensitive skin and can alleviate some skin conditions
CBD oil inhibits flare-ups in some skin conditions, like psoriasis and eczema, and helps soothe sensitive, easily-irritated skin. Incorporate a CBD-infused beauty product into your daily routine to nourish skin and lock in moisture for healthy, glowing skin.

For a lotion that's great to use all over the body, try Saint Jane Hydrabloom Body Silk. Powerful ingredients like their Sea Flower Complex firm and tone while wild chamomile, hyaluronic acid, and jasmine provide deep hydration, soothing moisture, and soften the skin. If you love a body product that provides a soothing cooling sensation, FITISH Tone Down Body Cream has peppermint and caffeine for additional benefits!

Benefit #3 of CBD in skincare and hair care: CBD can slow down some of the effects of aging
CBD in skincare combats the visible signs of aging with powerful antioxidant properties. Along with reducing inflammation, it can rejuvenate a dull complexion, even skin tone, and help smooth fine lines and wrinkles. That’s the power of CBD.
The CBD-focused brands we offer including KOVO, FITISH, and Saint Jane, have also upped the anti-aging benefits with peptides, other calming botanicals like chamomile, and antioxidants like green tea.
Our Top Picks:
FITISH Beauty’s Dewing It CBD Moisturizer soothes irritation, calms redness, and gently nourishes with anti-aging ingredients for all skin types. If you're looking for an oil-based serum, we recommend KOVO Bakuchiol Serum11 Alternative Retinol.

Our Top 3 Beauty Predictions for 2023
If we learned anything about the beauty industry in the last few years, it's that things are becoming even more unpredictable! However, there are a few predictions we have a pretty good feeling will come to fruition in 2023. Keep reading the blog to find out what they are (and why we believe in them)!
Our top 3 predictions for 2023 are:
Professional makeup brands will continue to go viral
The return of more bold and colorful makeup looks
Makeup Artists and Education will become even more important
Learn more about our predictions for 2023:
Beauty Prediction for 2023 #1: Professional makeup brands and products will still go viral
Long before Ben Nye Pretty Pink and Kryolan Fixing Spray were the hottest products on social media, many of the professional brands we offer skyrocketed to fame thanks to shoutouts from celebrities like Kim Kardashian (watch her at-home beauty routine with Joe Blasco Ultrabase Foundation), viral videos on YouTube (raise your hand if you heard about RCMA No Color Powder in the late 2010s, #IYKYK!), and the list of products that have gone viral goes on....
Why Professional Brands like Ben Nye, Kryolan Professional Make-Up, and Joe Blasco go Viral on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram:
We are never completely shocked when one of our products goes viral on social media. We're passionate about finding the best products the beauty industry has to offer and proudly provide our community with the brands makeup artists have relied on for decades to achieve the best makeup looks possible!
From richer pigmentation to the ability to mix and manipulate the products to achieve a different shade or finish, to the long-wearing nature, professional products are created with performance in mind. That's not to say that professional products are better than those you'd find on the shelves at your local beauty retailer. They're just created with a different purpose in mind.

Beauty Prediction for 2023 #2: The return of more than "no-makeup makeup"
Beauty trends come and go, so we're pretty confident this trend has already begun. While many beauty lovers were trying to achieve the "no-makeup makeup" look or the "clean girl aesthetic", there were plenty of folks that still loved a full face of makeup or experimenting with bold colors and color-shifting formulations. We believe 2023 will be the year of beauty self expression taking center stage!
Based on the latest releases from popular brands including more multichromes, beaming highlighters, and vibrant hues that will soon be hitting the beauty shelves(just look at the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year, Viva Magenta), we know it's going to be an extra beautiful year ahead!
PRO Tip: Remember that just because something is trending, you don't have to try it out yourself. Will the no-makeup makeup look ever be 'out of style'? No. That's the great thing about makeup and beauty in general.
If you love it, wear it! Being Camera Ready is about feeling your best no matter what your routine or makeup preferences are.

Beauty Prediction for 2023 #3: The power and importance of Makeup Artists and education
Now that platforms like TikTok and BeReal. allow others to share short-form videos with makeup hacks, product swatches, and quick reviews faster than ever before, it can be easy to feel like you have to have whatever's trending. However, it's important to remember that products aren't always perfect for every skin tone, skin type, or even makeup style. That's where makeup artists and education come in!
Some of the most popular influencers on TikTok and Instagram are actually makeup artists (like @Paintedbyspencer, Danessa Myricks, @crissscortezz, @roseandben), so you know when they share a tip or product with you, it'll meet their standards, and more importantly, they'll teach you how to use the items they're loving.
Learning why products work (like color-correcting products and professional setting sprays) will make you appreciate them more and ensure you love them even once the social media hype dies down.
Our team is always writing blogs to give you tips and to share tutorials, and we love sharing fun and binge-able content on social media! To ensure you're not missing out on any of the fun, give us a follow and sign up for our emails below!

Top Skincare Product of 2022 #1: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate
Long before it went viral on social media this year, Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate gained "must-have status" for us thanks to its versatility and ability to work on all skin types (if you have extra sensitive skin, they have a Sensitive Version, too).
This 3-in-1 primer, moisturizer, and makeup remover is the beauty industry's secret weapon. Formulated for intense moisturizing, it is especially great for those with dry skin.
Top Skincare Product of 2022 #2: Bioderma Sensibio H2O
Bioderma Sensibio H2O shows up in the top 3 skincare products year after year because it checks all the boxes when it comes to the perfect makeup remover. It's gentle yet effective, cost-effective, and great for all skin types. Simply add a few drops to a cotton round to cleanse the face or pair with a fine-tipped cotton swab for precise touchups.
Available in a variety of sizes that range from travel or kit-friendly to a larger value size for those that like to save, there's a reason it always tops lists for beauty publications across the web! Even Pat McGrath has named it one of her top products, and that says a lot!
Top Makeup Product of 2022 #3: Fitish Beauty Don't Sweat It
This skincare/setting spray hybrid has been gaining popularity thanks to the cooling effect it has on the skin, the skin-loving ingredients, and the fact that it can aid in reducing redness on the skin. Fitish Beauty Don't Sweat is formulated with ingredients including CBD, aloe, green tea, and allantoin to promote skin health while locking your makeup in place.

Top 5 Fall/Winter Skincare Misconceptions (& Our PRO Tips to Remedy Them)!
No matter how well your skin has behaved so far this year, be sure to read this blog because even the most predictable skin can be prone to irritation, dryness, or become sensitized as we transition into the cooler months. That's why our in-house Skincare Expert Chelsie is sharing the Top 5 Skincare Misconceptions for the seasons ahead!
In this blog, we will be discussing the FOLLOWING COMMON SKINCARE MYTHS and mistakes:
Not adjusting your environment/lifestyle during the cooler and drier months
Using the same facial cleanser during all seasons
Mistaking dry, rough texture for dead skin cells vs moisture loss from the skin barrier
Only using sunscreen during the spring and summer
Not taking advantage the cooler months for professional skincare services
Fall/Winter Skincare Mistake #1: Not adjusting your daily routine/environment to meet your skin's needs
We love to stay warm and toasty during the cold weather, however, if we stay in the hot shower too long or have the thermostat on high, we are potentially setting ourselves up for dry skin.
Having the heat too high or taking extra hot showers to stay warm will draw out necessary moisture from your skin and can cause it to become dry and more sensitized skin. To combat this, use lukewarm water and don't take unnecessarily long showers. To prevent moisture loss at home (or even at work), add a humidifier to the rooms you spend the most time in! These both help to maintain moisture levels in your home so that the drier air does not seek moisture from your skin, but instead from the environment!
PRO Tip: Using a more emollient lotion with occlusive ingredients (like petrolatum, squalene, jojoba oil, or olive oil) on the hands and body along with a facial oil can also help seal in moisture and slow moisture loss during the drier seasons.
Fall/Winter Skincare Mistake #2: Using the same facial and body cleanser during all seasons
Our bodies are amazing and can adjust how much sweat and oil it produces to adjust to our ever-changing environments, but sometimes they can use a helping hand. During the warmer months, the main concerns may be reducing blackheads and combating excess oil production, so reaching for a gel-based cleanser during the spring and summer can help!
However, in colder weather, gel cleansers may leave the skin feeling too tight and dry, so our experts recommend opting for a gentler, creamier formula. These gentle cleansers will still remove impurities, excess oil, and makeup, while still reintroducing hydration and leaving the skin soft and supple!
Fall/Winter Skincare Mistake #3: Mistaking dry, rough texture for dead skin cells versus moisture loss and an impacted skin barrier
The first thing that comes to mind when you feel uneven texture on your skin is to slough off the "dead skin", especially with more abrasive exfoliants. However, this rougher & flaky texture can be due to the lower humidity, increased water loss, and windburn. If over-exfoliation occurs, the skin can become rougher and more sensitized, essentially doing the opposite of what we would want!
When you have those dry, pesky patches, AHA's are best to stick to versus BHA's or physical exfoliation, as AHA's are water-soluble and tend to have humectant properties (yay extra hydration!) However, make sure you don't overdo it. If you're not seeing an improvement after one use, visit a local esthetician or dermatologist so they may properly diagnose and treat your skin.
Fall/Winter Skincare Mistake #4: Reserving SPF for the warmer months
We know this is a tip we'll bring up in every skincare blog, but it's important to remember UV rays are around ALL year round and can still permeate through the cloudiest of weather. While you may be seeing less direct sun rays due to a lower sun angle during the winter, ice and snow act as little shiny mirrors that will reflect those unwanted rays toward your skin making it more important than ever to cover any exposed skin with a sun protectant.
While the various types of UV rays can impact the skin, it's the UVA rays that accelerate premature aging and lead to unwanted hyperpigmentation and loss of elasticity. Preventing damage is much easier (and less expensive) than trying to "fix" the dark spots and potential for skin cancer later.
PRO Tip: When it comes to how much SPF to use, a good rule of thumb is to use one ounce for your entire body. For your face, some professionals have used the "finger length" method. Open your hand with your palm facing up, and draw a stripe of SPF the entire length of your middle finger and pointer finger, and that will give you the minimum amount you should use for your face! If you're wearing an outfit that exposes your neck and decolletage, draw a third stripe of SPF down your ring finger and use that amount for the exposed skin.
Fall/Winter Skincare Mistake #5: Not taking advantage of peels and other skincare services
If we're being honest, many of us have likely skipped a few sunscreen applications here or there, and we may be starting to see some hyperpigmentation or fine lines peeking through. The fall and winter months are the perfect time to combat those skincare woes with professional chemical peels and services. Let us explain why!
A professional chemical peel is designed to remove the top layers of your skin to allow it to grow back smoother. This can help slow the formation of fine lines and sunspots, but it's important to avoid direct sunlight after each treatment. With less direct sunlight exposure, it can be an ideal time to get a chemical peel, but as always, never skip sun protection, especially on freshly treated skin.
PRO Tip: Make sure you work with a professional to schedule peels and treatments based on your own skin's needs and your lifestyle. Remember, achieving the perfect skincare and treatment plan is like a marathon, not a sprint! It's also important to remember that peels are not for everyone, so be sure to contact your local professional.

The aches and pains I've gotten after being hunched over a computer 24/7 have not been fun! I decided to try I-Recover Mind & Body Gel on a whim and the trajectory of my life completely changed. The menthol scent and feel bring back childhood memories of my parents constantly using Vicks Vapor Rub as a "cure-all" but this one is so invigorating, that it instantly puts my muscles at ease! Its gel-like consistency makes it lightweight and easy to apply throughout the entire day (which I do probably way more times than I need to). With the Lavender and Patchouli essential oils infused, it has that perfect spa aroma, which is perfect to feel relaxed before bed! No more aches waking you up at night! :-)
We all love a 2-in-1, but Saint Jane delivered on this 3-in 1 sunscreen! I'm always down for fewer steps, and this sunscreen does it all, with the sunscreen element being Zinc Oxide, a physical sunscreen, it won't cause any irritation, BUT will not leave a white or purple cast, even when following the "two-finger rule"! It also has blurring properties, which makes for a great primer or even for no-makeup days! With Desert Rose, Hibiscus, and Jasmine, it delivers intense hydration AND soothes the skin, I don't need anything else!

I am a huge supporter of being proud of your smile lines and wrinkles that you earn along the way! However, I do enjoy taking care of my skin and using products and tool to target certain areas that may be showing signs of aging before the others. I was a tanning salon addict in college, and my monolid eyelids are showing signs of UV-damage because the delicate skin around my eyes has started becoming more wrinkly when compared to the rest of my face and body. I have one eyelid in particular that now folds differently than the other, as a result, but the NuFACE Trinity Pro with the ELE attachment has helped firm up and even up that area so that my eyes appear more even now! I use it at least 5 times a week and allow the microcurrent to "tone" my eye area and also concentrate on my forehead, and it's amazing! Whenever I make a frowning or serious face, the lines that normally would show up are far less prominent, and the muscle also feel more relaxed. In between sessions, I'll often use my NuFACE Fix for a quick skin firming and plumping session, too, especially for my lips!
I had previously named my favorite self tanning product (The St. Tropez Classic Bronzing Mousse), but part of ensuring my self tan is even and lasts as long as possible is exfoliation. I don't like relying on scrubs or body washes with exfoliating beads because they also contain moisturizers that may prevent certain areas of my skin from absorbing the self tanning product evenly, so I rely on the Esker Beauty Body Plane to gently and effectively slough off any dry and dead skin cells without introducing additional product to my skin. I just take a warm shower, allow my skin to soften up with the heat and moisture, and I gently glide the tool across my skin. It's wild how much the tool will gently scrape away! My tans now last longer and fade evenly. It's a must-have skincare tool, in my opinion!
Holly's Top Picks
The Makeup Eraser is a travel staple for me!!! I love using this when I'm on the go and don't want to bring my entire skincare routine with me! This really does remove all the makeup, probably even better than a makeup wipe. Plus, it's easy to clean and doesn't take up any space in my travel bags! I will recommend this over and over again for those guys and gals on the go!
I love using these eye gels when I have a few more minutes in the morning to pamper myself before work. I love to store them in the fridge so that they are nice and cold for my under eyes in the mornings to wake me up! I am all about a nice and healthy glow. These help me achieve that when I need a little boost in my skincare regimen to make my skin POP!
Calvin's Top Picks
SPF whitecast? No problem. Try the Peter Thomas Roth Max Clear SPF 45. No white residue helps to even out discoloration and uneven skin tone and dries down like a smoothing primer. Wear it alone or under makeup. Just don't forget your sunscreen!
No more tired eyes. It's time to wake up and shine. The Embryolisse Radiant Eye Stick to the rescue! Brighten, tighten and firm all while soft light-reflectors give you the look of 10 hours of dreamy, sleep. Wear it alone for hydration and brightness or under your favorite concealer for a radiant boost. Good morning bright eyes.
Liz's Top Picks
I hate undereye patches that are goopy and slide down your face instead of working the miracle I need under my eyes. Kovo's undereye patches are amazing! I love their application and how I can get chores done while I wear them around...all without them sliding out of place. They are cooling and leave my eyes soothed and ready to take on the day. Perfect for days when my allergies attack.
When I first saw this product, I thought it was a gimmick. Turns out I was wrong. The Blotter Baby Mattifying Roller is my new go-to for touching up oily areas on my face. It's so much easier and more sustainable than old-school blotting wipes, and it removes my makeup with the oil. It's perfect for on the go in your kit or your purse.
Morgan's Top Picks
For someone with dry skin, I have experimented with various cleansers to find one that doesn't stripped my skin or make it too oily. My skin generally feels overly oily after using a balm cleanser, and I feel like I should wash it again. On the other side, my skin gets dry after using most gel cleansers. The Cream Cleaner from Senna leaves my skin in a wonderful middle ground. It moisturizes while not leaving a greasy feeling. It also contains aloe to soothe any irritation.
I believe in treating your skin at a young age, I have even started my toddlers on a simple skincare regimen. Skincare is crucial to maintaining healthy skin, therefore including natural substances that we don't receive enough of due to our eating habits or environments into your regimen is a fantastic approach to keeping heathy skin. Squalene can be found in foods we eat to smooth and hydrate our skin. The Squalane Facial Oil is fantastic since it comes from a natural source—olives—isn't oily and it moisturizes.
Jess's Top Picks
A staple in my morning + nighttime routine, the Essential Lip Enhancer is one of my fav products to start and end my day with! Post teeth-brushing, I apply a thin coat on my lips to keep them hydrated and looking their best. Not only does it look great, but the combo of Vitamin C, Jojoba oils, and Shea butter also keep my lips in top-notch kissable shape 💋
As I have recently been taught the importance of exfoliating (😬), I figured it was time to invest in a solid product to do the job. I have yet to meet a Kiels product I didn't love, and here we are! The Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro Dermabrasion puts in WORK and helps even out my texture while also managing to keep my skin (as close as it can get tbh) baby smooth.
Morgan's Top Picks
Dull and dry skin? Not with the Revitalizing Nourishing Cream from Avène. The texture is not too heavy or greasy and absorbs quickly into my skin, making it perfect for the summer and humid climates. I have dry and sensitive skin and am always skeptical when trying new skincare lines, but Avene's formula didn't irritate my skin. The vitamin and lipid rich complex work to replenish your skin to help restore a healthy barrier. My skin has never felt better!
Break It Down Waterproof Makeup Remover really does break down all of your makeup. I use this as the first step in my double cleansing routine in the evenings to melt away my full face of makeup. It removes my waterproof mascara with ease and doesn't leave me with raccoon eyes. The hydrating formula doesn't leave my face feeling stripped or irritated. I follow up with a creamy cleanser and enjoy my nourished and clean skin.
Marcelina's Top Picks
Makeup Melt is a simple spray that LITERALLY MELTS MY FACE (of makeup.) It's strong enough to take off alcohol-based airbrush makeup and gentle enough to keep from stripping my skin. It's formulated with antioxidants to leave your skin bright and clean after removing your makeup.
PPI Telesis Super Solv Extra Strength Adhesive Remover takes the day away! It can remove Spirit Gum, tough glues, and prosthetic adhesives that you may use for a Halloween special effects makeup look. A little goes a long way and it doesn't leave a residue on your skin. Pick up one before you try out your next special effects makeup look, you won't regret it!

Ben Nye Banana Powder is the OG banana powder that many brands have sought to recreate in their own formulations. While it's hard to say who exactly made this powder the most popular on social media (it's been praised by Wayne Goss, Kim Kardashian, and more), there's no denying it's still a 2022 top beauty trend. In fact, Ben Nye Pretty Pink Powder (don’t worry, we’ll talk more about this later) shares the same exact formula in a brightening pink shade and skyrocketed to TikTok fame thanks to influencers like @paintedbyspencer showing how it can create a healthy, glowy complexion! This versatile Banana shade softly and subtly color corrects surface redness and pink undertones, as well as neutralizes blue under eye circles. Ben Nye also offers a Light Banana Powder that is slightly lighter in tone for those that love a bright under-eye moment! It is also a great option for those with lighter complexions.

Ben Nye Pretty Pink Powder for Your Favorite Makeup Hacks
Ben Nye Pretty Pink has been a pro favorite for years thanks to the brightening properties the shade pink has for many skin tones.
In a video posted during March 2022, @Paintedbyspencer pointed out that a very popular pink powder had sold out thanks to the latest makeup trends, but makeup artists have been using pink powders for years! He's not wrong!
Ben Nye Pretty Pink powder is roughly 1/3 of the price of the product that sold out, and that it even contains more product. Talk about a win win!

Our Picks:
