Universal color great for oily skin

I use a very small amount of the universal color on the most oily areas of my face and it works great. It keeps my face from getting super oily by the end of the day! I use it before putting on the rest of my makeup and let it sink in a bit before continuing with the rest of my routine.

Learning curve

Ok so I bought this blurring balm over the summer and have had quite a bit of time to try it out. I have mature skin (I'm 45) and it is combo leaning more oily especially in warmer months. This really is a balm texture, I like using a dense Kabuki brush to apply and the go over it with a damp sponge. Less is more with this stuff and even though I have oily skin I've found prepping your skin first is a must! It holds my oil at bay all day. It barely transfers (maybe just a little here and there but it does a great job at staying put) I have never tried anything like this before and I'm really enjoying it. I don't really see any blurring and it definitely can be full coverage if that's what your going for, I like to sheer mine out a bit because if you aren't careful I do think this can look cakey. So all in all it's one of those products you absolutely can't just slap on and go, there's a learning curve but once you figure that out it's a great product! I'm on here buying my winter shade and thought I would leave a review.

Love it

I love it! First time in my life I found a foundation that matches my skin perfectly. I have dark freckles which makes it very hard to match.

Not matte but not oily.

Pros.
+versatile
+ oil control
+not drying.

Cons.
+ my spatula got lost not really secure.
+ can cling to dry patches if you have flaky severely dried skin .

Experience.

For reference I have no acne and my skin is extremely dry almost too scaly dry with large pores around the nose I use tretinoin daily so i need something that works great with sunscreen. I use chemical sunscreens. I also moisturize with hyaluronic acid and thick face cream that i add drops of oil too. So i get a very greasy but moisturized skin. On top of that I also apply heavy sunscreen. I end up looking greasy as ****. So the are various ways in which I have used this blurring balm since i like wearing makeup.

1. as a primer after skin care under my sunscreen . It worked okay made my sunscreen look less greasy and gave me less oily shine. I patted the sunscreen on instead of rubbing it in. I use the recommended 2 fingers plus another for extra caution. It wasnt matte but it wasnt greasy oily. I'd say the finish was demi matte with some shine in my forehead still had to powder my T zone. withstood a whole day.

2. As a primer after sunscreen and skincare with powder foundation It worked best for oil control albeit a bit heavy and gave a matte finish because of my powder foundation. Cracked around my nosed and left it too dry, started to separate onto dry skin flakes (tretinoin overapplication was at fault) but it wasnt as moisturizing enough for powder plus its own oil absorbing qualities.

3. As a foundation over sunscreen and skincare. At first it was difficult to get coverage first application with a brush made it pool into my pores and not cover the skin around it. But upon the second layer and with a stippling motion it applied better. gave me at most medium coverage not full coverage. Finished look was satin like finish off with translucent powder over my t zone and around my nose lasted well .

4. as an eye primer. over eyecream. It worked well with matte eyeshadows gave them something to hold on tooo and felt incredibly light on the lids same with satin and pearlescent finishes the particles applied more uniformly. Didn't do its best with multichromes and highshine pigments that require a stickey glue. it did allow for uniform application of those pigments but did not enhance metallic-ness or shine. for mattes it gave an 8hr wear. for shimmers or pearls it gave a 5 hr wear before creasing.

5. as the sole primer/foundtion for skin no moisturizer just sunscreen on top It gave a definite more matte look but looked nice and had a natural finish ...for this application I just used fingers and patted the product on til I got the desired coverage. then I patted the sunscreen ontop. It felt a little drying but didnt show it my skin looked moisturized but felt dry.(thanks tret) Even kept working with 4 reapplications of sunscreen In which I blot and repat my heavy sunscreen appliction. By the end of the day 9am to 6pm the balm went from having medium coverage to light coverage. slighty seperated around the nose by a bit

Overall thoughts.
I like it enough to want a slightly darker shade and the translucent shade. the diffrence it makes in wear time is not in how long it makes a product last but how well a product fades with out it looking like a freaking mess. ie. pores arent that noticeable even when its too dry . when it clings to flakes it doesnt make the skin flakes look dry and angry more like moisturized and and soft lol. It diffuses some fine lines i have around the eyes. I havent used it without sunscreen so I imagine it probably works best without greasy thick sun protection. probably gives a more matte look. but know that it wont cause things to pill . I've tried the tatcha balm primer that one was just too greasy and pilled with certain moisturizers. I've tried the elf putty primer that feels nice and absorbs nicely but doesnt make a diffrence on me. both didnt really warrant a repurchase
