Baby Yoda Inspired Makeup: SFX Tutorial Series, Pt. 14

Step 2: Block out your brows Using spirit gum and a setting powder, set your eyebrows to create a smooth surface to apply makeup to. Step 3: Create an outline for the eyes, nose, and eyebrows Using a fine detail brush and the White Paradise AQ makeup, outline the eye sockets and draw in the lines for the forehead and eyebrows for the baby alien. These lines will act as a guide for the next step.   PRO TIP: Have a photo of the final look nearby to show you where Baby Yoda's facial features are in relation to your face. His nose and mouth will both be placed along the bridge of your nose. Step 4: It's good to be green Working in small sections, use the Light Green Paradise Makeup AQ or mix a light green from the makeup kit and fill in the area between the lines. Apply the makeup down to your cheekbones and about an inch or two below your forehead. The rest of your face will be covered with fabric. Next, trace over the white lines with the Green StarBlend Makeup and a pencil brush or smudge brush . Create a few shadows and thicker lines around the eyes and brows to give the features more dimension. Step 5: Fill in the eyes and add details Using dark pink, outline the eye sockets, add a few details along the nose, and add a rosy hue to the cheeks. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to diffuse any harsh lines. Mix a brown shade and add a few shadows around the perimeter of the face. If any areas get too muddy while blending, add light green to brighten things up. Next, use Black Paradise Makeup AQ to fill in the eye sockets, outline the nose and mouth, and add details like the eyebrows and crows feet. Step 6: Attach the ears Apply spirit gum directly to your skin and to the prosthetic, and once it's slightly tacky, apply and hold in place for a minute to ensure it adheres. Blend light green and brown makeup around the ears for a seamless transition. Step 7: Final Details Paint the bare skin on your forehead black, and add white details to highlight Baby Yoda's brow bone, the tip of his nose, the inner corner of his eyes, just below his lip, and any other areas you want to emphasize. If you want to add eyeliner, do it now because you'll be applying the rest of the costume in the next step. Step 7: Attach the fabric Apply double sided tape to the bare skin on the tip of your nose and cheekbones. Attach a rectangular piece of tan fabric and wrap around your head like a scarf. Take a larger piece of fabric and drape it across your forehead and behind the ears. Complete the look with a final piece of fabric that you can wear like a shawl. You're Camera Ready! Wonder Woman UV Reactive Makeup Look | SFX Tutorial, Pt. 25

Superheroes will always be at the top of the list of favorite SFX looks, especially during the Halloween season! However, you can always kick it up a notch with extra touches like UV Reactive makeup! We worked with makeup artist Kelly Tull and Lei V. Agency to create a Wonder Woman makeup tutorial that incorporates products you may already have in your collection plus a few of our SFX favorites. To follow the exact steps Kelly used, follow the routine below. Start with a light misting of Inglot Makeup Fixer Spray and apply Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Foundation for medium to full coverage. Use your favorite contour product, blush, and concealer before setting the look with Ben Nye Luxury Powder. This ultra-finely milled powder will make your complexion look airbrushed while keeping oiliness at bay. Fill in your brows and create a soft smokey eye using the Melt Cosmetics Four Twenty palette, and apply your favorite lip color. Step 2: Paint the Headband Start sketching out the headband with a nude makeup pencil before painting it with various shades of yellow from the Mehron Paradise Makeup AQ Palette. Once the makeup has dried, use a fine liner brush to outline the headband with black. Use the Melt Cosmetics palette to shade to add depth and shadows along the outer edges of the headband. Step 3: Create the Wonder Woman Symbol Outline the Wonder Woman symbol along the center of your neckline and upper chest and begin painting outside of the outline using the ProAiir Hybrid Fluorescent UV Reactive Paints. To blend different colors together, give the makeup a quick spritz of the Inglot Makeup Fixer and dab a makeup sponge where the colors meet to create a gradient. Fill in the Wonder Woman symbol with the Mehron Paradise Makeup AQ and allow it to dry. Next, it's time to add a bit of texture and fun to the Wonder Woman symbol! Using a splatter brush or a toothbrush, use the spattering technique to add splashes of color. Dip the bristles into the ProAiir Hybrid Fluorescent UV Reactive Paint colors of your choice, and run your finger across the bristles (with the bristles facing your body) to allow speckles of paint to enhance your look. If you want to leave the symbol itself free of any paint splatter, hold a piece of paper over the design while performing this technique. Outline the inner part of the Wonder Woman symbol with a thin line of UV reactive paint to make it pop! Repeat this process for the headband, and viola! Next, it's time to add a bit of texture and fun to the Wonder Woman symbol! Using a splatter brush or a toothbrush, use the spattering technique to add splashes of color. Thankfully, the latest update to this trend is to make it more inclusive and achievable for every beauty lover and not just limit it to those with an already great complexion or those that like minimal coverage. We partnered with @caykeface, a talented sfx artist to create a Minion-inspired look! Minions are a popular choice for those seeking a crowd-pleasing sfx look that isn't scary or too difficult, and it only requires a handful of items to create. Wet hair and slick back with hairspray into either a tight braid down your neck or a low pony, if you can’t braid. Bobby pin your hair to your head, trying to make it as flat as possible. Open the new bald cap, locate the front and insert head - face first. Pull the cap down your face and back of head. With a liner pencil draw a line about the eye brows and down the sides of the face leaving plenty of the cap to glue to your skin. With a small pair of scissors, start by cutting the bald cap straight up the center of the face. Then cut along the lines you made with the liner pencil. Peel up a small piece of the bald cap from the center of the forehead, lay down a 1-inch light layer of Pros-Aide. Allow to dry slightly so that it's tacky, and attach the bald cap to forehead. Continue the process for the whole bald cap, gluing down the sides, neck, and back of head. Take Pros-Aide on a cotton swab and go over the bald cap line where it meets the skin to blend it in. Powder the adhesive to remove shine. Taking creme paints, create your skin color and color corrector. Begin to apply over bald cap to camouflage any hair color peeking through. Powder to set. Step 2: Block Your Brows and Paint the Perfect Minion Shade of Yellow & the "Outfit" Now that your bald cap is in place, it's time to block your eyebrows and start painting! Apply about 3-4 layers of prosaide over the eyebrows to block them out. The thicker the brow, the more Pros-Aide you'll need. Powder them lightly to remove the tackiness. With a liner brush, lightly sketch out the minions features and clothing. Then paint everything in with body paint. Use body paints and eyeshadows to add the details to the features and clothing. The good news is that since the look is supposed to look cartoon-like, you won't need to add too many details! Step 3: Create and Apply Your Minion Halloween Look Accessories Now that your bald cap is on, your brows are blocked, and the majority of your look is painted on, it's time to get creative and to create your accessories! Caykeface opted for a classic minions look with oversized goggles and spiky hair. @Caykeface used poster paper create black pieces of hair and some goggles. Glue on your hair with Pros-Aide. PRO Tips: How to Use the Water-Activated Aqua Chromes in the Danessa Myricks Beauty Lightwork Volume IV Transcendence Palette

So you just got the Danessa Myricks Beauty Lightwork Volume IV Transcendence Palette (perhaps you're considering it or another water-activated makeup product)- congratulations! You're in for a magical world of textures, finishes, colors, and multichromes! If you're new to using water-activated makeup, welcome to the beautiful world of unique textures and finishes! This pro-favorite product is great to create clean, crisp, highly pigmented eyeliner looks for graphic liner eyes, a pop of color, and more.   It may be a little daunting, at first, but once you've mastered the technique to use water-activated makeup, you'll be hooked. In this blog, we'll share three easy steps and a tutorial video to use the Aqua Chromes! How to use the Danessa myricks beauty lightwork iv transcendence palette aqua chrome water-activated shades in three easy steps: STEP 1: Add a couple of drops of water to activate the makeup STEP 2: Swirl your brush to mix the pigment with the water STEP 3: Use a liner brush or other tool to apply The tools you'll want to have handy to use the Danessa myricks beauty lightwork iv transcendence palette: The Lightwork IV Palette A small amount of water (either in a small dish or dropper) A thin liner brush A paper towel or other towel to wipe your brush How to use water-activated Danessa Myricks Lightwork IV Transcendence Aqua Chromes STEP 1: Apply a few drops of water to activate the makeup In this step, it's important to only use a little bit of water. Start with three drops. This will allow you to achieve maximum pigmentation. If you accidentally apply too much water, you can swiftly dab off a little with a paper towel or simply allow the water to sit on top of the makeup for a minute or two before you start to mix it. This will ensure the water softens even more of the makeup instead of only activating the top layer, resulting in a diluted mixture. How to use water-activated Danessa Myricks Lightwork IV Transcendence Aqua Chromes STEP 2: Mix until you reach a paste-like consistency Our favorite way to use water-activated makeup is for eyeliner or graphic eyeliner, so we often turn to a very thin eyeliner brush when using our Aqua Chromes from the Danessa Myricks Lightwork IV palette. Taking your brush, lightly swirl and swipe it in the water you've dropped onto the Aqua Chrome shade. At first, you'll see the magical shimmer floating in the makeup, but it won't take long before the shimmer has almost "melted" into the water creating a beautiful multichrome liquid. Keep stirring! You're so close to being ready to use it! You're looking for a thicker almost paste-like consistency, and it should stay on your brush easily and look a little thicker once it's ready. If it has become chunky or gloopy looking, add a tiny drop of water and try again. PRO Tip: Keep a small dish of water nearby and lightly dip your brush into it to pick up the desired amount of water to work into your Aqua Chrome. This will give you optimal control while mixing and can come in handy as you work with the product, as it will start to dry up again as you're using it. How to use water-activated Danessa Myricks Lightwork IV Transcendence Aqua Chromes STEP 3: Start playing with the makeup! Now that your Aqua Chrome is the perfect consistency, it's time to start playing! Of course, since it's a wet formula, if you're lining your eyes, try not to blink too hard or open/close your eye until the liner has dried. Your body heat will help the liner dry pretty quickly. Once dry, the Aqua Chrome will give you a dazzling long-lasting multichrome look! To remove, simply use your favorite cleanser or makeup remover. It will be easy to remove since it's water-activated! PRO Tip to use the Aqua Chromes from Lightwork IV: We recommend practicing on your hand or arm until you get used to how much of the Aqua Chrome liquid to place on your brush and to see how thick you like the consistency! Wiping your brush onto a paper towel in between lining sessions will also help you create clean, crisp lines. While many of us look forward to the fall season because it means lower temperature and humidity, it can also take a toll on our skin, and in turn, how our makeup applies. Dryness, flakiness, itchiness, and dull skin. We've got the perfect products to help ease the effects of the fall and winter months! Our team of beauty experts has created this blog to answer their most frequently asked skin prep and skincare questions to help you combat those dreaded fall and winter skincare woes! At Home Skincare Tips to Help Prevent Dullness and Dryness We know there is no perfect product that works for everyone and every skin type, but our skincare experts have compiled a list of Dos and Don'ts below to help take care of your skin during the cooler and drier months. Fall and Winter Skincare DOs: Consider using a humidifier at night and in your office to ensure the air doesn't become too dry Do turn down the temperature when you shower Drink more water than normal Consider adding a body and facial oil to your routine Fall and Winter Skincare Don'ts: Do not over-exfoliate! This can damage your skin and cause it to become sensitized Do not try to heal damaged or very irritated skin without consulting a skincare expert or your dermatologist. Your skin can become inflamed, flaky, and cracked for many reasons, and they will help you determine the root cause Do not forget sun protection! How to Prep Dull, Dry Skin Dropping humidity levels strip your skin of moisture and can lead to dryness and itchiness, and skin that is prone to breakouts can become even more sensitive and harder to treat. That's why selecting the proper cleanser and moisturizer is essential. The Best Facial Cleansers for Dry Skin and Cooler Weather: If your skin is irritated, avoid the urge to use a physical exfoliator to slough away dry dull skin cells and opt for a cleanser with salicylic acid. There are a wide range of ways to doll up your skull makeup, from rhinestones to glitter, but in this skull SFX tutorial, we'll show you how @alice_crue created an eyecatching neon skull that will catch lots of compliments! Instead, use Mehron Barrier Spray to create a sweat-proof barrier that will allow your makeup to last longer. Next, use your favorite method and products to block your eyebrows. Step 2: Map Out the Skull with a Makeup Pencil Take a makeup pencil and draw an outline of the jaw bone, eye socket, nose socket, teeth, clavicles, and neck. Alice prefers to use a brown pencil instead of a black pencil because she finds it easier to paint without worrying about the black makeup mixing in with the paint she uses to fill inside. Step 3: Use the Water-Activated UV Neon Paradise Paint Palette to Color the Outline for the Skull Using the Mehron Paradise Brush Set, use your favorite shades to cover the outlines you just drew with the pencil. Alice likes to create an ombre effect and use different colors along each line because it gives a more interesting look to her skull. For the teeth, fill in each tooth completely, as you will outline them with black later. Once the outlines have all been painted, allow them to dry. Next, fill in the eye sockets, inside of the mouth, and inner part of the nose socket with Black Paradise Paint. Once that area has dried, paint the neck and check outside of the bones you created earlier. Step 4: Highlight the Outlines with White Paradise Paint Using one of the finer detail brushes from the Mehron Paradise Brush Set, add a few white lines to the rainbow outlines you painted on in step 3. You can even add a few highlights to the teeth! Step 5: Add UV-Reactive Effects to the Look Taking a medium-sized Paradise Brush, take the shade that looks white from the UV Neon Palette, and fill in the “blank” areas of your face. Although the shade looks white, it’s actually UV-Reactive and will glow under the black light! Allow the paint to dry and set with setting spray, and that’s it! Your Neon Skull is Camera Ready! However, I do enjoy taking care of my skin and using products and tool to target certain areas that may be showing signs of aging before the others.
